AG Hi' Def' wax

Featured Replies

If you have your own AG valeter, i reckon it'd be cheaper getting it directly from him asyou won't have any postage/packing to pay?

I pay £25 plus vat for it from my distributor so unless your valeter wants to make some money on it (selling it on) or his distributor isn't as competitive as mine, i reckon that'd be the way to go!

Will be only too pleased to sort it out for you mate, just thinking of saving you a few quid thats all!

When it first starts raining the beads are very tight & uniform over all panels, it's only after a while that the waterbeads start collecting together after a certain amount of rain!

I think it's something we'll have to agree to disagree over as i honestly believe the benefits of water beading this way shows a greater protection than the other?

Either way it's good to have beading on your car when it's been rained on, we all agree on that one!! :D

The size/amount or height of beading doesn't infact show how more or less protected paintwork is. Each wax will have it's own beading characteristics & sealants tend not to bead but sheet water off the panels. After machine polishing a panel (i.e no protection whatsoever) and tipping some water over the panel you'll still get beading.

Having used the High Def wax (thanks to my AG rep for the freebie) on numerous cars of varying colours my thoughts are:-

-Easy to apply but the foam applicators supplied are too big to use efficiently & are way too soft...not to mention go rock hard after putting them in with other foam apps in a 40.c wash

-As with other AG products it's very dusty when removing.

-Durability still going strong on a couple of 'tester' cars through the recent weather for the last 3 weeks, how well it holds up in the coming weeks remains to be seen.

-Looks wise, mcuh the same as many other waxes.

I'm not sure on it getting anywhere near Collinite in the durability stakes I have to say.

I honestly cant see this product being any better than Collinite and that's less than half the price!!

You got it!

I read a review earlier tonight but for the life of me cant find it, was autocar or something and Colly 476S won hands down, took the pi55 out of AG

To bead or not to bead... That is the question????????

I'd agree on the applicator pads being a bit on the soft side, i'd agree that AG products do seem to be a bit dusty (like a lot of others) but i reckon the durability of the AG High Def Wax might just surprise a few people?

Am in the process of ordering some Collinite so as to make a fair comparison! I still think it's horses for courses & the bottom line is... just as certain people will look at the Skoda badge & look away with a smirk, others will wink & say under their breath "smart cookie"

There are so many products available for the up keep of your car that a lot if not most comes down to personal preference & an understanding missus on a sunday afternoon! ;)

Whats that with?

Doesn't look too impressive?

Must have been your beady eye

My vRS with a Lifeshine and washed last weekend plus a coat of Aqua/Express wax.

Was raining this morning and this is a pic of the roof - quite small beading.

That aqua wax is quite good actually, it's designed for a quick application, you don't have to dry your car before applying it & gives a good finish, just a shame it doesn't last a little longer than it does! Still, considering how quickly it can be applied, more regular application intervals are not a problem!

I reckon if you got another coat of lifeshine on your motor & didn't use the aquawax, the beads would be bigger! I have a Mondeo ST24 & that has had 3 coats of Lifeshine (overkill i know) & the same result seems to happen regarding the size of the beading!
