AG Hi' Def' wax

Featured Replies

not yet :) got a price for it, its got the same things as collinite that iirc, sounds good and i cant wait to try it.

My Zymol Carbon will be finished next time I detail the car, might give this a try depending on how much it is

I get it for £35, comes in a nice box with two applicators & microfibre polishing cloth! It's a very new product & i must confess have only used it on one car so far, mine!!! Am very impressed with the results to be honest! Not only was it easy to apply but not difficult to buff to a great glossy shine either!

In an earlier post i did say i'd take some pictures of my Octy vRS before & after all the paintwork had been taken care of (LifeShine, High Definition Wax etc) but because of the ridiculously bad weather we've been having i'd only just managed to finish it all before rain, snow, sleet, hailstones you name it put paid to my photographic talents (none whatsoever)!

What i think i will attempt to do is arrange some sort of group buy with my supplier (Autoglym products only obviously) & see what kind of discount he could offer on the range or if there are any specific products Briskodians would be interested in?

Will see what response i get from this post before i take it any further!

I will of course inform moderators of this as/when interest generates & include it in the group buy forums! :D

i could be interested if the price is right ;) how long should this stuff last on the car before you would need to re do it?

Hi mate, i'll buzz my distributor tomorrow & find out how long it actually lasts & post back here? Would of course depend on weather conditions, mileage etc but i'd take an educated guess & say that it should last as long as the SRP does? Will now be giving mine the High Def Wax treatment after every polish! Got the box right in front of me but no indication of it's longevity?

I know that this amount will last a very long time as i went over the whole car with it & hardly put a dent in the amount? Been trying to take a picture that shows how little has been used but my phone just isn't up to it!

AM very intersted to see what a difference it'd make to a black car? Mine being race blue & virtually new isn't really the best test to be honest! :)

Guys.............you have just missed out on a cracking GB on DW where you could source it delivered for £30...............

Detailing World

If you can do a GB Darren 260403, £30 inc delivery is the price to beat..........

RIGHT!!!! Have just got off the phone to my AG supplier who has said that as long as i get an interest of a minimum of 10 people, he will do the High Def Wax for £25 inc vat! Will have to look into delivery charges as i've not done anything like this before but at that price i think it'd be hard to beat!

He also said that on the test cars the wax lasted for 6 months!!!

One more thing, he said he'd be happy to supply any of the AG range inc trade products not available to the retail market if the interest was great enough!

Will see what interest there is to this & go from there!!!

Oh by the way, it is £25 i get the wax for plus vat so doing it this way would mean that even i get it all cheaper!!!

Good work mate...............if you ran this as a GB on here I would buy 2 from you.......also I could generate interest on DW if that helps?

Go for it mate, i must confess i really don't know how these group buy things get set up etc & want to make sure it's all in keeping with website rules etc & all above board!

I will probably order at least another one so that would be 3 or 4 already!

Cheers.....

I may be tempted..

But as i've got no other products at all..

Should i go for it, as i'm going to be doing my first full detail myself once i've gathered all the products.

Mike,

If you could add what you use to my thread that i started, i would appreciate it. :)

Managed to compress this picture of water beading on the roof of my vRS after the Lifeshine & High Def wax was applied a couple of weeks ago now! Worth pointing out that i've not washed the car for nearly a week & this photo was taken this morning! :D

My car's not been washed for about two weeks and the Zymol Carbon still beads tighter than that. Granted it costs more but am still not convinced. Might wait and see what detail threads pop up using this wax and judge it from there

Have to say, i have nattys red on mine, and considering it's not been done since last October, it's held up remarkably well. :)

Never tried Zymol Carbon but I agree with what your saying, not seen many AG High Def Wax threads on DW to judge it but for sub £30 I will give it a go and add it to my already growing collection.............P21S Caunauba Concours Wax is my favourite wax at the moment...........

I might be doing an unfair comparison though. Last time I detailed the car, it was clayed then I used two coats of AG Ultra Deep Shine, Zymol HD Clense, 2 coats of Zymol Carbon, then the car's been washed about 4-5 times and dried using Meguiars QD. Putting the AG wax on over the HD Clense might give better results, especially when you use two coats. I've got a feeling it'll work out better than the Carbon, not only on price but ease of use too.

I think there is some confusion over the beading process? The best protection you can give your car is the one that stops everything/anything from sticking to it (plus protection against UV rays etc) so it surely stands to scientific reason that the only reason the beads are so large on mine is because the gravity of the water (stickiness if you like) is greater than the gravity of the paintwork protection! Am probably not explaining myself very clearly? Even a half decent polish will bead tighter than this but that's not really what you want???

The only reason the beads are so large is because the water cannot get any kind of grip on the paintwork & finds it easier to grip to more water beads, when the weight of the water bead is too great it just runs off the car!!!:)

I honestly cant see this product being any better than Collinite and that's less than half the price!!

The way I see beading is that if you have no protection at all on the paintwork, the water just sits on the surface. When you apply a wax then the water starts beading up. So the tighter and more uniform the beading, the better the wax. And as the wax deteriorates, the beading gets worse and worse until it doesn't bead up at all. Thats the way I see it

I couldn't possibly comment on Collinite as i've never used it, but if it's half the price & you guys use it & are happy with the results it's got to be worth a thought!

Although i am biased towards AG (obviously) i'd still never recommend a product unless i'd personally used it & was happy with it! Just like i'd be honest enough to admit that AG fastglass isn't (IMO) as good as some other rival manufacturers around?

I guess it's all down to personal preferences, time, effort, money etc!

Some of the posts i've read on car care seem to involve a rather painstaking amount of time & effort & whilst i applaud anyone who takes the time, effort etc to look after their cars, i still think some of the processes are a bit overkill? Each to their own though, it's refreshing to see all the same! Makes a change from the typical sunday morning dad throwing buckets of water over his Ford Focus & then scrubbing it half to death with a sponge??? Regards...:)

When it first starts raining the beads are very tight & uniform over all panels, it's only after a while that the waterbeads start collecting together after a certain amount of rain!

I think it's something we'll have to agree to disagree over as i honestly believe the benefits of water beading this way shows a greater protection than the other?

Either way it's good to have beading on your car when it's been rained on, we all agree on that one!! :D

as much as i hate collinte and the applying of it, must admit it looks better on my car than the AG one, still got the wet wax spray to use too which seems to give just as good result.

Have you got some high def wax then SMSTEXT? I reckon i'm gonna order some of that Collinite & give it a go! A lot of people seem to praise it & i can't comment either way until i've used it too! Ebay will be paid a visit rather soon!!!

One last thing to point out though.... The way the water beads on a car after waxing OR polishing OR both still isn't a true indication of the amount of protection the paintwork has as a result of the application? It merely increases surface tension which is what causes the beads in the first place! Whether the beads are small, medium, large etc isn't an indication that one product is better than the other? Durability on the other hand is the kiddie we should all be interested in, not just asthetics (pleasing to the eye).

A good test (not that i or most other car Skoda fanatics would do?) would be to wash/polish/wax your car & then for the next 6 months just wash it (once a week say) with no further waxing etc & then after 6 months is up, look at the water beads to see if they are still there? I think that would give a true indication of protection/durability etc!

Just a crazy thought!!!

i kinda do that anyway.

Would be interested in the group buy I think at that price. Depends what price my AG valeter can do it for (the one that did my Lifeshine).

I used the aqua wax/express wax last weekend so will see how that looks with beading. Cars been in my garage since then so not exposed it to rain yet. No doubt it will see some this weekend though!
