Elderly chap seeks help and advice

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

Hope I'm allowed to do this!

There's an 'elderly chap' in today's new members posts by the name of Billhum who needs some help and advice re his Fabia 1.4 Elegance. His tale of woe is one of the worst I've ever come across. He's not too sure how to post etc so I've said I would put a pointer here and hope that some of you good peeps might be able to give him some advice or re-assurance.

Thanks in advance

Edit: the thread title is 'my love hate relationship with Skoda'.

My two penneth:

As far as the fault goes, I suspect that it will be something simple (and maybe cheap) when it is found. The cost of finding it is another issue.

As far as your legal position, I would document EVERYTHING that has happened with dealer A (your contract is with them and you reported the fault whilst still in warranty), and request that they correct the fault. If they refuse, then advise them in writing that you will get another dealer to repair the car, and recover the cost of repair from dealer A via the small claims court. This is a very easy, online procedure which many companies do not want to risk if there is a chance that the ruling will go against them.

By the way, Freedom of Information Act only applies to public bodies, not private companies. Do let us know how it all goes, best of luck!!

Hi re information, Sorry, I meant the data privacy one where info is held in regards to oneself, since presumably one's car is attached to oneself data-wise, well it does if it has one's name etc at the top. I wonder if the original poster (bill hum with his query) has a car at all? Perhaps thinking more fun than the Sunday crossword?

Me not know
