Std Turbo...

Featured Replies

Say i wanted a remap, a bigish one, so i fitted a FMIC. Ive got the PD160 intake and smoothed the airbox abit.

O, and id fit a turbo back catless exhaust.

How much bhp could the turbo take before it didnt want to know me anymore?

(53plate vRS).

Thanks Dave

Power wise?

180bhp ish id say, about 1.6ish bar boost. But its not all about the power with a hybrid but how its delivered.

My 04 plate baby was remapped from new (I think) and has just about hit 40k and the turbo has just gone pop. Skoda want £1400 for a new one but as it's remapped I have been recommended a hybrid to handle the extra power. Going for a Stage 2 (only £50 more than a stage 1) from Star Performance and it is £150 cheaper than Skoda.

I would say that my clutch is slipping a little if pushed at low (2k) revs so ideally needs uprated too.

How much was your FMIC as I fancy one of those next?

Sorry, just noticed you haven't got the FMIC yet!

If you can fit one yourself, you can fit an ebay one for about £350 - £400.

Was the ebay one designed for the fabia? Its quite a precise science.

Clutch slipping below 2k? Don't boot it below 2k :) Thats not a joke btw.

What is the difference between a stage 1 and a stage 2 then? I'm interested to know?

Stage 1 is a modded vnt 17 compressor wheel and the stage 2 is a modified vnt 20 compressor wheel machined into the orginal vnt 17 housing

Pl,us if you buy an ebay one how would you moddife the pipework to fit???

and where would you attach the map sensor, not trying to be funny but theres really only one option with the fabia and thats a proper kit whihc is around £600

The standard turbo's can pop at the standard 130bhp so it's not an exact science.

I will be uprating mines to a Hybrid in due course, FMIC first though
