Does anyone know if you can buy colour coded trim for a MkI Octavia VRS?

I want to replace the black trim on the body work for silver trim, to match the car (similar to the MkII Octy)

Does the trim come off easily? The previous owner has obviously polished the car a few times, but over lapped and the trim now has white marks on it and bugs me.

Yeah Oggy on here has had it done and has photo's in his signature. I've asked before and i think he bougt a second set had them colour coded then stuck them on and replaced old ones. Hope it helps.

Yes I have colour coded mine & personally the car looks a hell of alot better with it done.

My friend sprayed them for me. I used my original bumper inserts, but bought new door rub strips, due to the fact the old ones distorted & bent when I removed them. The door strips are only stuck on with double sided tape.

If you do decide to remove the door rub strips, get yourself a rubber wheel to remove the residue of the tape left on the doors. It saves alot of time & scrubbing:thumbup:

Also he mentioned that in order to get them smooth (as the rest of the car's paint) it would take alot of paint(more expensive) but if I could settle for a rough finish, the price would drop. How are your's oggy? I guess rough if they are sprayed?

They were just plastic primed & sprayed. There was no smoothing done to them. When you say a rough finish, Its ain't that bad at all. Yes you can see the detail of the plastic, but only very very close up.

As for the door strips, I didn't break any of mine when removing them, they mainly bent pulling them off.

Alot of people have just took the door strips off & left them off. It depends if your brave enough to expose your doors to the idiots who don't take care in car parks.

I've never used Halfrauds plastic primer,so I can't comment on it.

I can't remember how much I paid for the door rub strips. SWMBO has thrown the reciept.

I bought the door strips from an online Skoda parts dealer that was advertised on this forum, but that was some time ago.

I was hoping there was a part you could order pre-painted, as I've seen the results from other cars that have had similar paint jobs done and you can see the texture below the paint.

would it be possibly to go over them with some filler and smooth em off or would it break up?

the filler would probably crack in time .I have just done my rear bumper insert this afternoon and all i did was to sand down with a fine sanding block, apply 4 coats of plastic primer and have applied 2 top coats up to yet. i shall leave it overnight, smooth down and apply another 2-3 coats of gloss, followed by another 2-3 coats of laquer. although they are not perfectly smooth, unless you look reaaly close, you cant notice the texture.:thumbup:The side rubbing strips for the mk 1 octavia are £26 inc vat from dealers for a set of 4:thumbup:
