vRS TDi deal opinion please

Featured Replies

Hiya, I am loking at the above cars and have found one but could do with opinion on the price as aint sure on value.

It is an estate version `07 on a 56 plate in silver. Miles are up a bit at 34k and they are asking £12995.

Worth a punt at that money or is that a bit much with that mileage??

Cheers

That doesn't seem too bad. I was originally after an estate but low milage and under 6 months old were still way above £16k and out of my purchasing range:(

However, that sounds like a dealer price so haggle away!

Trouble is I cannot find anything as a comparison at that mileage. Other one is an 06 56 with nearly 28k at £14495 which does make the first one look tempting. Other than that cannot find anything les than 15k and my budget (after forgetting a hol this year etc) is 13k ish.

I wouldn't let the millage put you off, especially if it has a few extra toys on it. Also if it's a dealer price then haggle away, and push for a tank of fuel, 12 months tax, etc. Seems a fair price though.

It is a car dealer but not a Skoda dealer. I think they are Proton main dealers by the amount of them on their website, which begs the question why would any sane person trade a vRS in for a Proton????

I find that other make car dealers are not inclined on pricing the brand upwards. I was looking at a VRS just before christmas which was at a Toyota dealer and they dropped £500 in the first few sentences of the conversation!

Have spoke to the dealer and reserved the car based on his description of the car as immaculate and my description of my car. They only valued my car at £5500 which is what it valued at for p/x a few weeks ago. I could get £6k privately with no bother so told him that is what I wanted or they would have to lower the Skoda price. He came back to me aying the lowest they could go was £12595 on the vRS with £5500 for mine so in effect I have got £6k for mine and am paying the £12995. Have done a Glasses valuation (cost £2.95) and that comes out as £12495 p/x price and the same for private sale with the dealer price up at £14k+.

All in all I am happy with the deal as I cannot find another at that money. The nearest is £13999 for a h/back with 12k miles or £14500 for an estate with 27k 56 plate. So at £12500 I am saving 2k for the price of it having done 34k in 15 months or so BUT it is now affordable to me instead of the getting the petrol version and cringing at the mpg all the time.

Go for it - someone else has probably ironed out the teething troubles e.g. replacement exhaust sensors for DPF etc. I would recommend a thorough test drive to get beyond the exciting surge of torque. Don't be fooled into thinking rough shifts from first through third are because you're not familiar with the car. The engine/gearbox matching isn't great and it's difficult to smooth change. If you do a lot of town driving you may want to rethink.

At the end of the day though - the price is good. I'm paying tax on a VBV of over 20K....

Sounds more than reasonable to me mate. If its in immaculate condition then snap it up!

Seems expensive, how bout a new one with metallic paint for £15295?

that sounds like a good deal to me! amazing that they took another 400-500 quid off too! we've got a Petrol VRS 06 plate for just over 13,500 so I think its a good deal expecially for the TDI. do you get any warranty/breakdown cover or any service goodies?

Latest news. Went to see the car which is indeed immaculate but for a tiny mark on the bumper which they are doing. They said they could only offer me £5400 for mine tho as it needs a 3 areas spraying/smart repairing. This would mean £12995 with £5400p/x instead of £5995 in real terms, or £12595 with £5000 p/x. Same cost to change of £7595.

OR if I want to sell mine privately and do a cash purchase he said he would let me have it for £12000!

He apparently used to work for VAG and got this as an ex VAG fleet purchase and has ran it for a few weeks himself before selling it on through the in-laws family dealership he works for now.

I cannot find an estate vRS for less than £12500 even in petrol form. Cheapest diesel weighs in at £15275, although much lower miles. Seems like a cracking deal now so I will be picking it up next week. I realise it is the miles added to the fact he obviously got the car very cheap in the first place but hey, I can have the car I wanted now so am happy. Must say the Blue or Black would be better as the silver, although nice, is a little understated.

It only has cruise as an extra so no jumbo box or 18`s. I aint that bothered about 18" alloys anyway but the jumbo box I would have liked. He says you can have one retro fitted for around £200? Anyone know if this is true.

Cheers guys for your replies.

Sounds nice and I do prefer the blue, but outta my price range I am afraid.

Easier to clean though:) Sounds like you have got a deal there! Put some private plates on and pretend it is an 08 :D

My Black TDI VRS hatch weighed in at £15.000 with reverse, cruise, jumbo package with 5k on the clock. It was being advertised for £16k but was a straight forward cash deal from the MK main dealer. I thought I was going to have a harder time hagling but when your spending your companies money I felt I could be a bit more cheeky!

Funny enough I already have a plate that I got for me 40th. K11 HKR :D

Yeah, I am a Hull KR fan (rugby league for you non educated lot:))

Its probably the lack of the jumbo box, 18's and (I assume) the dual zone climate and the rear leccy windows that has lowered the price.

Sounds a good deal to me. I paid 16k for my 07 hatch with 5k on it with the jumbo pack, cruise, park assisit, light assist.

Nice, I know some HKR fans who would probably consider selling a Kidney for that!

Nice..............and only £280 (I think?) standard low price from DVLA!!

I pick her up next Thursday.

Does anyone know if I can get the jumbo box fitted now and if so how much it would cost??

You are right that it ain`t got the extras apart from cruise. Still seems a damned good price to me even without the extras. £2400 less than the next cheapest estate I can find.

Was thinking along the lines of £200 for the jumbo box. I am right in thinking this is just a centre armrest aren`t I??

Jumbo box is a centre armrest but the storage inside has a flap you can open to let cold air in to keep your sarnies cool :)
