Blown Turbo hi

Featured Replies

Hi all, i`ve a Fabia Vrs 56 plate, 20,000 on the clock, my turbo blew up last week, caused a lot of damage under bonnet, skoda had it for a week to repair, got it back yesterday, am a bit worried to boot it now, any one had the same prolem? would love to hear from you. Cheers

check out the search, there are loads of threads about turbos gone pop, glad to hear its sorted though

Dont worry. The words "their goes another one" comes to mind. If they dont blow turbo's then they get crashed

If your car is not remapped then its likely your new turbo will be able to withstand plenty more hardcore abuse for many more miles. On a standard non mapped PD130 the Turbos can last weeks, days or years! Its really totally luck of the draw.

If its mapped then I would take it easy. Let her warm up and warm down, and avoid booting at low revs in low gears because if you have a spikey map then its during this period when it will rear its ugly head and boost spike - a common cause of premature turbo failure.

if it blows again, see if you can talk the skoda garage into putting a garrett turbo on instead of a kkk........

just following that theme, has anyone with a vRS and a garrett turbo had one blow?

Hi there,

I have had a KKK turbo blow on mine a month back and I took it easy for the first 500 miles, now it gets booted, if it's going to blow it will blow!!

Mine was original from new and lasted 61,000 miles, so they can go at any time.

Mine was not in warranty and cost £1000 to replace including the fitting!!!

Ben

For a grand I wouldnt even consider sticking a stock turbo back on - you are better off buying a Garrett replacement yourself or if you are going to remap it, go hybrid.
