Continental headlight converters

Featured Replies

Hi all, long time no post!

I've just bought a set of continental headlight converters for my Fabia, and given them a test fit.

Everything fits fine, but strangley the "black patches" on the converters don't seem to line up with the bulbs?!!?

Usually you stick the converters in front of the bulb to "bend" the beam- or do these ones simply block sections of the light?

Does anyone have a set to comment, or know how these work?

Cheers all,

Hewesy

With newer prismatic type lenses and reflectors the beam converters are usually applied to the area of the lens that directs the light-beam. This is not necessarily directly in front of the bulb, and depends on the design of the head-light.

The AA ones have pretty good instructions, which is where I got this info - I don't understand it, I'm just a reasonable copyright infringer!

Thanks for the reply, makes sense!

I didn't appreciate how advanced a humble headlight is:thumbup:

Do you really need converters. For the last 6 years I have been to visit my son who lives in Holland 3/4 times a year and have never seen any car on the ferry fitted with them yet. Also the foreign cars on the ferry home don't have them either

Being Dutch and knowing what the rules are ;) - if you get caught in Holland without properly adjusted lights, expect to be paying the fine..

I would always err on the side of caution, hence was the only one with converters and GB plate when I went to Calais last year!

Thanks all,

Hewesy
