My car is fast approaching it's 60k service and is 3 months outside it's warranty. Do you reckon I should get it serviced at the local dealer (Jacksons of Basingstoke) or take it to a local Audi/VW specialist? I know with the Scooby, main dealers charged the earth for servicing and didn't make a particularly good job of doing it and I'm just wondering if it's the same for Skoda?

Thanks, Chris

Try and find a good independent, as they'll usually do the best work for the money. A specialist might well know more about the car, but they'll charge for this knowledge - and if you're just getting filters and oil changed then it's not specialist knowledge stuff... :)

I'd go for a specialist over a dealer if they're your only choices.

If you want a courtesy car and that then a dealer might be the place to go - but check how much they charge for oil and see if you can get it cheaper elsewhere and take your own along! :D

Rob.

Independant for technical jobs, otherwise I would do it my self.
