Service Nightmare

Featured Replies

Today I experienced a service nightmare please feel free to add comment. Dropped my fabia VRS off for service today at my local main dealer on collection I discovered the bill for the 4 year service including cambelt change, mot, brake fluid change and extensive four year service quoted at 550 pounds to be 625 pounds. In addition to this I had also ordered a replacement black foglight surround that I had recently damaged, this part was supplied scratched. The car had been hoovered out at the weekend and not carried any passengers yet somehow on collection of my car the passenger footwell had leaves and debris in, similar to a birds nest. Now I was happy to let these minor details go after all they had turned my car around in a day for me but 5 miles from completing my journey home bang! I pulled over to check my tyres I thought it might be a puncture, no sign of a puncture so I go to pull off and uh-oh no turbo. Ring the RAC the guy comes out informs me that the turbo pipe has been blown off and that this problem is highly likely to of been caused by the garage that serviced my car and supposedly checked it was road legal as the cambelt they would of replaced is in the same area of the engine bay as the cambelt.

get on the phone first thing, its the really simple things that let dealers down,

well if i had my way i'd cancel the payment until they agreed some sort of compensation but unfortunately can't cancel payment.

Thats not good at all.

Id definatly complain to Skoda UK...

I would hate to think anything happend like that where i work, we take pride in our work, and other dealers let the reputation down of others...

Hope you get it sorted soon!

Those hoses pop off often and it's likely they disconnected it to access the cambelt. Often, once popped off once, even for a service, they're never as good when they go back. It's a shame VAG never came up with a better way of joining all the boost pipework.

Devonutopia, are u saying that it is likely to come off again?!

leaves in passenger footwell will have been from the pollen filter change

It's not at all uncommon for those pipes to blow off.

Which IME is the last thing they do, almost as an afterthought.... Still very crap to leave the sh*te lying around in the footwell though. :(

To the OP. It reads like they maybe tried a little too hard to get the job done in time... Rather than paying attention to all of the details.
