Winter settings

Featured Replies

My Octavia 1.9tdi does not seem to run as well in the hot weather as it does in the cold. Is there a winter setting for the engine ??

Not that I know of. Have you checked the air filter? Might be suffering with breathing a bit. But then it could just be the extra heat of the atmosphere reducing the intercooler efficiency.

They do suffer from heatsoak

My car died right off today after a long run (not suprising considering it was reading 28.5 degrees on the ambeint temp readout).

Bring on the FMIC and C02 Halo :)

As had been said in the thread posted up the hot air kills the engine in terms of breathing. As hot air is less dense (Carry's less oxygen than cold air) the engine finds it harder to combusted the air in the cylinder as there is less of it, saying that though turbo's are alot better than Normall Asperated cars on a hot day as the turbo will force more air into the cylinder by default than an NA car.

Try taking your car out when the ambient temp is low, just when the dew is lifting from the ground in the morning, the car should feel like a rocket ship.

Thanks guys, I replacd the airfilter and now she is back to her old self.

Stupid question follows :)) in the hot weather, here in italy is +34c, would enlarging the air intake pipe help ?? maybe cutting it shorter to make the intake nearer the filter where it has a larger circumference.....
