Pick up my VRS Saturday :)

Featured Replies

After looking for a bigger car to replace the Ibiza i decided on a Otavia VRS :)

Left a deposit with one on Monday and its had its RAC inspection today!

Its a red 53 plate with only 14k miles which was a mayor selling point for me! Managed to knock some money off and get a free years tax as it needs a service and cambelt change (on age alone!)... :)

The RAC inspection reported that the only real problems where that the coolant was low and the screen wash didnt work.. Im guessing with the coolant i just top up and carry on ? Would i need to check anything as it was low ? I think it was just above the minimum level so hoping its fine..

With the screen wash the RAC man suggested a kinked or blocked line.. Im guessing this will be easy to check and replace the hose if needed ?

It seems as though the last owner only did a few miles a year and never serviced it lol so will be booking that in on saturday when i pick her up!

Quick pic i took with my phone :)

I think im gonna be around on these forums now :)

If you live anywhere near Reading, Berkshire make sure you look out for me ;)

I would just top up the coolant with some distilled water and keep an eye on it :)

Looking good and nice to have such a lower mileage example.

How much did you pay in the end?

The hose for the screen wash can pop off quite easily if you don't use skoda screen wash (i'm sure I read this somewhere) so I wouldn't worry too much. Probably something simple like that...

Your Ibiza looks pretty sweet, what's the spec on it?

wicked thanks for that :)

In the end he took 200 off for it needing a service and i got a years free tax for needing a cambelt.. Not bad really as can hopefully find someone to the do the belt and waterpump for not much more!

I must say im definately going to miss the ibiza.. Shes being picked up on Sunday :(

Shes running about 235bhp so quite nippy lol.. Full spec here :

Peugeot GTi Autosport Club > Free Articles > Members Cars > Other Makes > Seat Ibiza Cupra 20v Turbo - Ninja

ah well the octavia has potential i guess ;) Oh and i can get a pushchair in the boot without it being completely full lol

Cool, I personally think that's a good price with the crazy low mileage.

I really like that Ibiza, you've made some smart/subtle mods to it. I'm guessing they are 100kg odd lighter than the vRS?

Are you moving any of the mods over to the vrs?

Thankyou :) I like to keep things nice and subtle :D

Not moving anything over to the VRS.. It will be completely standard when i pick it up!

I'm betting it won't stay that way :D:D:D

ha ha your probably right :p

So whats the suspension and cornering like on these ? My ibiza is very fast but doesnt corner very well!

Actually with a baby now i doubt it matters that much hehe

I might consider a remap in a few months but im hoping to leave it quite near standard.. Then hopefully when we get a bigger house with a garage i can get a track car ;)

Nice motor, same as me

Pretty much the same imho

Glad you made the right choice of car,as it will be fine for size and performance for the family.

Lets get down to business..

Neuspeed rear arb 28mm and powerflex dogbone mount are 2 things you need to order.;)

ha ha i was just reading your other post ;)

Boot was massive and definately big enough for his pushchair and shopping etc :P

Wicked i shall get on that.. I know that similar kit makes a lot of difference on the handling of a leon cupra r.. So how much and i looking at for those 2 ? And both from awesome i presume ?

Cheers

Probably around £250 delivered for both unless you can get a group buy started on the neuspeed(10% discount maybe then).

I would go fr the neuspeed over something like the whiteline as its better qaulity.

Octy has same front suspension as cupra r.

You will feel a big improvement with these fitted and the dogbone mount will settle down.

you'll find the octavai better over b roads etc i would expect but not sure on response etc as its a bigger, heavier car.

just go for the remap and some better brakes/suspension and you'll be happy i think :)

Has it really NEVER been serviced? Good luck with it as a car that hasnt been driven properly and serviced regularly imo is a potentially bad buy, especially for that money. Mind you i bet the bodywork is immaculate. You wont have any worries gettting the family moved about in the Octy and the boot takes some filling.

Im nt so sure whether this low mileage is a good thing as itll have been stood around a lot or used for very short journeys all the time.

Also, I believe the Superpro dogbone bush makes no difference to any vibrations compared to standard (got one to fit)

It has been serviced but only the once. That was exactly half way through its life and at 9k miles.

The rac did a full inspection and thought it was fine and i've just driven it home with no issues!

Need to spend some time working out the stereo now and programming that etc..

Pretty pleased with it though :)

Glad your happy with it mate:thumbup: Just bear in mind the fact that the car hasnt been used since it was born so check all the boost hoses etc. You may well have just bought a great low miler but chances are you will start getting problems if you drive like you stole it:D

I don't know exactly but my theory is the rubber (pipes etc) suffers when not used much.

This pure speculation by though so comes with usual disclaimer

I think you should bring it down the M4/M3 to Portsmouth and let JKM have a good look at it and change that cambelt for you. Best company on the south to go for if you ask me!

i'll see if you say that when its fitted, i have a poly dogbone mount and i know what difference it made.

Difference in vibrations or performance compared to standard?

Theres 2 stiffnesses - sports and street and competition. Someone else on the forum has one fitted and he didnt notice any more vibrations over stock. The bushes themselves are fairly hard but not rock solid.

no difference in performance at all, more vibration and no when i reverse my downpipe doesn't hit my transfer box :)

The standard one causes wheel hop though.

I have the powerflex 2 piece bush and it was not to bad then I fitted the superpro solid front bush and for the first 2000 miles I regretted it purely on increased NVH. They have settled well now and pulling away quickly is so much easier. Still get vibrations at low rev but I can live with it......Just

Ah right, just got the back 2 here. Why did you fit the front one too?
