Been Busy, lots of pics

Featured Replies

Been pretty busy yesterday and this morning, cleaned all my alloys and re-painted all my calipers with Hammerite Smooth Green. Looks a million times better. Also cleaned and waxed the car using some Collinite 476S, finished it off with my new product ClearKote for the bumpers and wheels etc (plastics / rubbers), well pleased :D

Might give it a whirl. I've got some ClearKote Vanilla Moose Wax which is used at the glaze stage. It's very easy to use, and it actually recommends that you also use it on the glass, plastics etc :)

I could do with a Glaze tbh, i'm after a wet look? would i be right in saying apply the glaze between the polishing and waxing stage?

Thats looking very nice there mate good job

Tidy :)

Very nice! Washed mine on Friday night, now its v dirty again, thats the issue with a black car I guess :thumbdwn:

Planning a full clean/polish/wax next weekend so will get some new pics then inc new window tints done yesterday :D

Is the Clearkote product similar to Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care?

I wouldnt know mate but i'd guess so, never used the Ag stuff,

Yes, the Glaze is applied after the polishing stage. Then comes the sealant and finally the wax.

A good glaze for a darker car would probably be Megs no.7 showcar glaze.

Has anyone tried this glaze for a black car?

Looks cracking, just a very simple yet stunning combination of colour coded grill, not too fussy plates and nice wheels.

Plenty of uses of the old hammerite after the calipers are done ;)

As a matter of interest, did you paint the calipers on the car, or did you take them off first? I'm thinking of doing mine red in the summer (even though they're teeny weeny!).

One word for that... stunning.

where did you get the 312mm and the Collinite?

ffs - I'd decided not to bother going for the 17 inch Octy wheels and keep the standard ones on, I'd told myself the stock look it better anyway, and now you've gone and ruined my budget for me god damn you.

Nicest looking Black Fabia ive seen in a while, you will have to show me how you did that, mines got a deep rallye gloss on it atm.

Great work.

Looks stunning

Bought the Collinite from Ebay

Got the 312's from a fellow briskodian,

Theres a set of 312's on vagweb.co.uk for £170 i think ;)

Thanks. Any advice you could give about doing this job? I'm not especially technically minded, so I'm not quite sure which parts I should paint and which should be left alone. Also, what type of brushes etc did you use, and how did you prep the calipers for painting? How many coats did you do? And how long did you leave them to dry before driving the car again?

I just painted the already green bits which made it easy for me ;)

I did two coats as it says on the tin but one coat would of sufficed, left 5 hours between coats. Brush wise i just used a normal 1/2" paint brush.

To prep the calipers i just cleaned them off with a brush and stuck the paint ontop (old shine over **** routine) Still havent driven the car yet but i'd say a good 6 hours worth of drying before driving
