that would be great... I thought it existed for VW as well (maybe compatible with octavia's) but I'm not sure...

I can't ever remember seeing an unmodded VAG car without an aerial or at least a mount, but the electronics pack will work with any 12v HRW. In fact it was originally developed by an accessory manufacturer to allow radio reception without an aerial.

Just a thought, but some Fords (cetainly UK Orion [booted Escort]) had a device that let them use the heated rear window element as a radio aerial; was that the sort of thing you were talking about in #45?

Volvo V70's use the HRW too :)

My 1991 Audi 90 didn't have any visible aerial.

No sorry but I do like your wheels. Not sure about the black grille though. The spoiler you could probably get from the latest Skoda Accessories catalogue if you decide to go with it. They put them on the Octavia Sport over here.

As Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth would say "Good news, everyone!"

I've found a set of second hand S8 replica wheels in 18" with almost new 225/40 Michelin tyres for a very good price so I'm going to pick them up this week.. :D

Only downside is that the ET is ET42 instead of the normal ET38... hope they fit without spacers but I think so, I still have over 10mm of space between my current wheel and suspension so I should be in the clear

Here's a pictune on how it should look... they are the first wheels that I've pictuned (and I've done a lot of them :P) that have immediatly looked like a perfect match... hope it's the same in real life

I've also treated my paintwork to a cure of Autoglym Super Resin Polish followed by some Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine medicine.... the paint is amazing now

Gonna give it a second treatment soon which would remove the last of the swirlmarks (already 90% dissapeared though)

Cheers

Like the look of those, they suit the car. And you'll be fine with that offset. IMO it would look better with a lower offset, say around an ET32. So perhaps consider some 10mm spacers in the future :)

well that might cause some rubbing issues, the wheels are 8x18 so I prefer a slightly higher offset so the wheels fall just within the arches

Get some silver indicator bulbs like Philips Silver Vision. Head and back lights will look better. Guaranteed. Also consider painting the rear drum brakes black.

Your car looks a lot like mine so I like it. :)

Painting the drums is something that I've put on my list a while now but I haven't gotten around of doing it... to busy with the house-building lately

PS I'm picking up the wheels on Friday... :D

ok guys... got the wheels :P

Here's a sneak peak... all 4 wheels are fitted but it was getting to dark to take a decent pic so I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow...

The ET42 worked for me... however I don't have a lot of clearance between the wheel and the suspension... my guess would be approx 4 mm but I'll check tomorrow to be sure...

The wheels then... when I look at the picture it seems that the tyre is a bit too big but irl it seems to be "OK", the tyres are stretched a bit so the look is def better then my 225/40...

also no worries wrt rubbing in the back (what I was afraid of a bit), the tyres fall well within the arches, thanks to the higher ET value and the slightly stretched tyres

The wheelsize itself: well it's better then the 17" but I would have thought they would look slightly bigger... I thinks this because the tyre size, I know someone who has 215/35/18 tyres and his wheels look a lot bigger... I must admit though that putting the centercaps on immediatly make the wheels look bigger.

Speaking of centercaps... I want to put in the skoda logo as soon as possible but the size is kinda crappy, it's 7cm... An original skoda badge is 8cm I think so that sucks... anyone any ideas if there are skoda badges out there with a diameter of 7cm?

Here's the pic with the first wheel on:
