Felicia Diesel failed MOT

Featured Replies

Sadly my Felicia 1.9 f Diesel failed its MOT today as the front legs are gone...(or very nearly!) it's not worth much (P reg). I'm trying to work out whether I can save it from scrap. Is this a big job??

Suspension struts aren't that expensive, I got mine for £25 each new. It then depends if you fit them yourself or get a garage to do it.

Easy repair, if that is all it failed on, not worth the hassle looking for another car, just mend it

Quite common...struts corrode quite badly, easy fix though

If after calling around for some quotes they seem a bit high it could be worth giving it a go yourself. You'll need some spring compressors as well as socket sets and spanners etc, and the procedure is outlined in the haynes manual.

I haven't tried the fronts myself yet, but the rears are a doddle. You just need a safe methodical approach and to be aware that if that spring gets loose it could be very unpleasant.

Definitely worth mending if everything else is fine anyway - and I imagine the ride will be a little more comfortable too.

Hi Curran, cost me £100 per side last year supply & fit 2hours approx down time, possibly considered slightly expensive but job done immediately by workshop in Rugby got me out of mire, well pleased. Job done on two seperate occasions about a month appart so if done together may be cheaper. Pete:thumbup:

just the shocks?

you've got to fix it!

don't let us down....
