Oil Pressure warning

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just a quick query, my oil pressure light went flashing on and beeped after about 5 minutes the other day, so I checked the oil level and it was a bit lower than normal so topped it up and though nothing of it. But it did exactly the same thing today :( So guessing its not the oil level :(

Assume it might be a trip to the garage then?

Cheers

There is a sensor for the pressure which is normally on or around the oil filter housing. Quite quick and cheap to change for a start.

Yes - It's down below the housing, and to the right. I only know as I recently T'd into that sensor to install the sensor for my pressure gauge on the dash. :)

Thats on a diesel. OP doesnt say what engine, 1.4 16v is in the cylinder head.

If it's the same GFS off the talkaudio forums, I think he has a 1.9 TDI. I went headlong into the reply without confirming that. :o

It is the same GFS of TA but I have a 1.4 though :)

So just to make sure the garage don't try and stitch me, roughly how much should I be looking at inc labour IF it is just the sensor?

Cheers

It was the oil pressure sensor fortunately, got the pollen filter replaced as well as it was blocked up making water leak into the passenger footwell,

Total bill was 80 quid which was not too bad :)
