How can I get the video stream URL from my camera?

Featured Replies

Any ideas here? I have a CCTV network video camera. If I run it using the cheapo software that came with it, I get a picture. However, I want to use it with my actual CCTV software I already use, with my existing camera setup. How can I find the address for the video stream? The camera has no markings or make or model number. If I run Wireshark, I can see that it is ouputting on port 801, but that's it. Any ideas on a util / sniffer that I can fire up to find out what the URL of the stream is? If I just browse to the IP address on port 801, I get nowt !

Can you post a wireshark trace we cpould look at? Trace the suppiled software talking to the camera.

i have this option on mine, but not had time to figure it out. basically you need to make sure your router has an open port for video and you need to send it through a different url to what the web pics go through. can you tell us what camera it is so we can be a bit more helpful.

Have you tried connecting to it's IP address on normal web ports? (80 normal, 443 ssl encrypted)

Sorry for stating the obvious :o But in case you haven't, there might be a config / setup section which may give more clues

Here is a zipped up capture file. Towards the end, I close the app down. The camera is on 192.168.100.9. The PC is on 192.168.170.82 (network set as class B). In answer to other questions, I have tried browsing on port 80, 443, and on 801. Also, no firewall ports or port forwarding needed (yet) as I am just trying to get it working locally at present. Oh yes, no camera markings either. I have no idea what make it is.

Cheers

Edit: I did a search on the MAC address which comes up with a manufacturer of Multiware & Image Co. Ltd. The camera uses there WeCE (Web Camera Engine). Still more googling did not find me the info I need though !
