Anyone having trouble with the SMP client

Featured Replies

For some reason my Q6600 machine has Early unit ended the last 3 work units at around 64% complete. Nothing has changed with my computer, but I noticed teh failing WU's are all from project 3050.

It then goes off and redownloads the same core and starts another WU.

ok, I know why 3 in a row failed. It looks like the SMP server at folding hq is broken, and my system was timing out getting a new WU so decided to do the same one again. I have deleted the work folder to stop this happening, so wont be smp'ing again until their server is fixed and I can get a wu.

I'm running the Linux client on Ubuntu and it's OK. I've had a couple of 3000+ point WUs which is nice.

I've got 4 machines on the go now so we'll see ho wthat goes for a weeek or so.

I did eventually get mine going again, I currently have lots of CPU's folding. 2 SMP (only one is on 24hrs) and about 16 standard clients.

I've just started running the 5.92 beta on my Core 2 Quad and it seemed to be doing 1% every 20 minutes up until around 6am at which point it seemed to have stopped. CPU was still maxed out, was it still doing stuff or had it frozen?

Ok, WTF Is an SMP client?? I have heard of one many times, but what the hell is it??? What does SMP stand for?

SMP = Symettrical multi Processor iirc
