Fabia Turbo Blown

Featured Replies

Hi all again, thought I'd start a new thread relating to my problem which I've now found to be the turbo. (see previous thread on crank sensor etc)

I got it to run with the intercooler outlet pipe off so it pointed to turbo/blocked cooler. Whipped the cooler off and it's full of the vanes that once inhabited the turbo :(

So, next question, anyone know the cheapest/easiest way to get my hands on a turbo for this car. Can anyone recommend someone and also any actions/additional measures I should consider to prevent this happening again?

Is this common? I know loads of people have said about their turbos going but to chew up and spit out all the vanes!?!

I'm off to tick the 'yes' box on the 'has your turbo blown?' poll...............

More than likely, it got oil starved, killed the bearing, puth the shaft off centre and then proceeded to kill itself.

Do a search on this, and check the For Sale section. Either someone will be selling a standard turbo or at least there will be threads with the right info in it.

Id be more worried about those bits of vanes making it to the engine first...

wouldn't they have to make it through the intercooler and the air filter before they got into the engine?

Only the intercooler, the next stop after that IS the engine. I wouldnt think any fragments would have been small enough to get through the intercooler.

Doesn't look as though any of the bits have got through, tough **** if they have I guess

Bought a turbo last night after I posted so all being well I'll replace it this week sometime!
