Just started to strip the fabia today and so far all i have managed is the turbo intake pipe off :(

I went for a last drive today, took it steady on the way down to sheffield and got 52mpg, nice relaxing drive.

Then gave it all beans on the way home and got 35mpg but my god this car shifts :eek:

I cant do it I cant strip her, I cant undo all my hard work, its depressing me even more.

My dad said to me its a fooking car get it done lad. :(

In fact i got that depressed about stripping it i decided to start stripping my spare gearbox down to install the peloquin. but even that has ****ed me off now as i wont be able to enjoy that even so ive come back in the house to sulk :(

Not looking forward to driving a ****ty mazda 2 1.4 td fecking thing does 60 in 15.5 seconds. I can do over 100 in 15 seconds in the fabia

Are you still paying finance on the car? If not it's an easy matter to cancel your insurance, declare it SORN and stick it in a garage for a few months... wouldn't cost the Earth.

But if you're paying finance off on it you haven't got much choice really. Unless you sell it to someone who wants the mods, with the idea of selling it back to you when you return??

No probs with my car in the heat - with the FMIC and TD stage 2 plus washbrook mapped ECU - it runs lovely even in 47 deg heat....

They have a great dealer in the emirates - Autostar. I know someone who worked there. You can get Fabias there np.

Diesels arent so popular for some daft reason, but you can order one np......

Keep the performance stuff stored and if it all works out - look out for a used vRS there- probably cost peanuts there being a diesel...

The quality of derv is better out here - Rich washbrook was able to remap the car much hotter with minimal smoke he said...

O joy Not doing another clutch swap, ill pay someone to do that.

turbo is easy, but i just dont have the motivation to start taking it off. May have a try tomorrow

On a more serious note, your car is awesome and the ride out on the weekend was great, I can understand how difficult it moust be to strip down your pride and joy to sell it off for your trip but like people keep saying, when you come back you can start a new project and think how awesome you could make that.

Why are you stripping it? why not sell it as is? You will be making a pile of cash in Dubai , just put aside what you would have paid in tax at home every month and can buy another when you get back.
