fitting strut inserts

Featured Replies

has anybody ever fitted stut inserts before..

i must admit i've never done one and i know it involves drill holes in the strut and cutting them:O

there are some koni inserts available for the felicia and i was just toying with the idea, is it worth it??? i have access to a lathe which should make the job easier, but is there anything i need to look out for?? any tips??:)

I've fitted standard replacement inserts to a Golf & Scirocco and the only cutting required was to get the cap off the strut as it was seized. Don't know if a Felicia is diffferent, but it was just remove the cap, pull out the old insert or innards, replace insert.

it says something about drilling a hole in the bottom to release the pressure first

The only time I've seen it done it was spring compressors to relieve the load on the top plate, remove spring, vice and Stilson to remove damper insert from lower strut, and reassembly is the reverse process. Not a drill in sight.
