How far can you tune a Roomster?

Featured Replies

I'm interested to know just how much power can be produced from a 1.9TDi Roomster 3 engine. It could be that I am comparing everything to a former car I owned (Octavia 1 VRS with approx 240hp) but I'd love to be able to run my Roomster with as much as is reasonably possible. I realise that Decron is probably the authority on this subject of modifying Roomsters but I'm sure others out there are at least curious. I look forward to reading any experiences or plans.

Well it's a 1.9 PD105 engine to start with so the potential is basically the same as an old PD100 Fabia.

At a simple level you'll get 130ish BHP from a remap , and to get significantly more you'd be looking at changing the turbo , bigger injectors and so on.

How much money were you planning on throwing at it , and people will give you a better idea of what you can get

You can get about 150bhp out of a pd105 but you will need to spend some serious ca****o, you wont get much more wthout upgrading the internals. You will also have a lot of problems using the power, you just wont get it down. Devonutopia got about 156 out of his PD100 before he changed to a PD130 which has much stronger components.

They are good with 130 ish (Which is what I get out of the Dragon). However if you get a decent custom map you will get a nice drivable power curve which will help you put a good amount of the torque to use. It will never come close to your Octy but you can still make it a fun vehicle.

Power isn't everything to get the best out of it you may want to look at the handling.

You can get lowering kits to fit and I would recommend Eibach springs and FSD shocks along with a golf mk4 RARB. Combine this with a good map and you will have a sweet Roomy
