Octavia Phone holder/brackets

Featured Replies

Anybody used one of these third party brackets in ya Octy to enable ya to fasten a 'brand phone holder' to ?

i have just bought a Ericsson t630 :)

am gonna buy a HCH -33 car holder - http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pp4_1_1&zone=pp&lm=pp4_1&pid=10080

have been looking at this bracket to attach the holder to http://www.dashmount.co.uk/aditsnov/70532.htm

just wondered if anybody has any experience of how easy these are to fit and also if anybody knows of a bracket that can fasten to the left of the stereo as opposed to left of the climatronic/aircon module

many thanx

Steve

At least one member uses that dashmount bracket, but I would be uncomfortable having a sharp piece of metal like that in the footwell in the event of a side impact crash.

Photos and fitting instructions are in this thread.

Thanx for that link DGW :)

I've got something very similar that holds my SE car kit in place. Looks ok when fitted and seemed pretty straightforward to fit although I was only watching.

I have a dashmount bracket in my VW Transporter. It is very strong and dead easy to fit.

I would look at them first before any other mounting bracket, least of all because no drilling is required.

edit: Dashmount do 2 positions brackets http://www.dashmount.co.uk/skoda.htm

I also have a dashmount bracket - in the Octavia (3rd car I've had one for). My Nokia cradle fits roughly in line with the climate control and is snug against the transmission 'tunnel'. As mentioned, easy to fit and a custom fit piece of kit at a reasonable price.

I've got one in my Octy too.

Company wanted me to have a phone kit, I said no drilling in my car so I went for the Dashmount bracket.

All I'd say is you need to cut the "carbon effect' fascia to allow it to fit as is quite thick/sturdy metal. I just cut side/back of fascia trim - not the bit you see (so if ever I remove the phone kit, no one would know it's been there.)

I too have a dashmount bracket....a doddle to fit although as Andy says, the dash trim needs slight modification for that perfect fit.

Haven't been a**ed to do it myself though. ;)

Dashmount brackets are excellent, and easy to fit, but it's a lot of cash for a bit of bent metal........

Reckon the vent mount would hold 700grammes and not wobble/move about?

Also the side (trim mount) will it only mount at the aircon? eg would it mount at the top under the switches?

This is of course not for a phone, but not many people make mounts for what I'm doing...

Dashmount bracket uses the screws which hold down the c/c control unit...not sure how much weight it can handle......can handle the bag with the take-away in though. ;)

They're useful for that, aren't they? I've had up to a set meal for 4 hanging off of mine.....

there are a few other pics from diff angles in my gallery

was dead easy to fit - i did have similar prob to a few others about the fascia trim wanting to pop back out a bit - but i pushed it back on a few times and its stayed in now on its own - no blu tac /carpet tape required
