fabia door pins fallen off.

Featured Replies

Hi!

i've been upgrading the sound system in my car and have been using the excellent resources on this site. everything went ok till i started to put in the sound dampening.

i started with the front doors & got the door card and the inner metal ancillary skin off. however, i've managed to disconnect the door pins on both passenger & driver side doors! :(

i got everything back on, but now i have to lock the passenger door from outside which is a real pain. i'm not sure if the door pins have disconnected as they have to bend to fairly extreme angles in getting the ancillary panel on/off or if they have broken. i don't think they have broken; but have so far been unsuccessful in trying to push them back in. is there a particular way to do it? all my attempts have been defeated so far & i'm tearing my hair out!

any help you guys can offer will be greatly appreciated :)

can you not take the guide clip out if the door skin, then get the skin on the doors, then put the clip back on while the door is open.

not sure if i understand you fully fast fritz. unfortunately, i can't even get the door pin attached back onto its hole on the locking mechanism with the door open and the inner metal skin off ; let alone do it with the skin on. it's really fiddly!

I know from painful experience that it is feckin fiddly to say the least. I found it helped to unscrew the knob off the rod first, they're only loctited on, it gives you a little bit more leeway to poke it through the hole in the carrier. If you have disconnected the rod from the lock, I think you will have to clip that back in first, I would have said it was impossible to do with the carrier in place. It is held by a small plastic clip on the inboard side of the lock. Once you have it back on, it will help gratly if you have an assistant to support the carrier while you thread the rod back through SWMBO came in very useful for once. I think you'll have to remove the glass to get the carrier in the right positon(s). It's a pig, good luck!!!!
