Chinese Octavias

Quote from The Times Business Stop Press this morning:

VW near to China launch

'Volkswagen, the German carmaker, disclosed that it is in the final stages of launching production of its Skoda Octavia model in China. The group said that it could begin production in the country next year, with plans to work towards an output of 50,000 cars annually.'

I wonder whether this will be the old or new model?

These are the ones with a bloke at the front who pulls them ?

No, I don't think so; they're probably the Elegance model with pedals.

When I was in China recently there was a profusion of Boras as well as top of the range Passats and very old Jettas. Surprised the Octavia is deemed that much different from the Bora to warrant making it alongside these (they are made in Shanghai). Good to see VW seems to be THE dominant overseas car producer over there. At least they are doing well somewhere.

I spend most of my life in China, I must say boras arent too common where ive been there is a model called the Santana similar to a Bora but not the same. definitley loads of Passats. Also loads of Chrysler MPV's and Jeeps all made there.

I was in Beijing and perhaps the Passat was the most popular and very well kept, bit of a cult car there with the Yuppies in black with tints.

It's a worry though that the Chinese are trading in all their bicycles for Toyotas. Traffic and air pollution must be horrendous now!

They all move way out to china >>>>>> i`s cheaper to produce there ///// i guess
