New TT?

Featured Replies

At the weekend I saw on the cover of some car magazine a picture of what looked like a new TT with a very A6 looking front end.

Is this just a revamp to match the current styling , or a new model entirely?

Didn't get to stop and have a nose as I was in a hurry

Think it a entirely new model. Would assume it'll be based on the new golf platform. Not read it myself so don't know.

There was talk of an Audi "GT" quite recently...is it the Nuvolari Concept car?

That'll be Autocar then, http://www.autocar.co.uk

New TT at Frankfurt 2005, UK 2006. Bit wider etc, plus revised looks, and RS monster version.

Have a good read, the phrase our artists impression slips into the article but yes a new TT is due + several other new coupes & an A3 "semi estate" ie a bit longer but not really an estate

A lot of the 'new cars' & spy shots in Auto car are just artist impressions of they think they will look :thumbdwn: based on pretty much anything they can think of at the time  , I would put no weight behind the fact the a new TT will look like that, but would admit Audi could make a car that looks like that.

IMHO it looks very nice

Spoke to a bod (fairly high up bod) from Audi(UK) the other day when they presenting us with our first new model A6.

The new TT is already finished - design wise, has been for the last 3 months!!! but and this is a big but - the car is based like the Octavia II on the MK5 golf platform - much to Audi's disgust apparently it dont handle good. They wanted to use a modified A4 platform - but costs are against it.Therefore much modifications will be made to the running gear to make damn sure its a brilliant drivers car.

Will be slightly bigger than current model and indeed will have the new family grille, also expect to see the sharp swage line and different rear lights - the ones Autocar show are a rip off from the Lemans supercar and are not likely to be the ones used.

Some very interesting new models in the pipeline from Audi - most of them ready for production, just waiting for right launch time and production capacity.

  • A4 Saloon & Avant - Major facelift to bring in line with new family look - Late 04/Early 05
  • TT 180BHP front wheel drive -- Late 04
  • A8 Sportback -- Crossover Estate - Mid '05
  • LeMan - Mid engine supercar - 380BHP V8 / 500+ BHP V10
  • Nuvolari A8 sized Coupe -- 380 BHP V8 / 500+ V10 - on sale 2006
  • Pikes Peak - BMW X5 Rival - on sale Late 05
  • Soft Road version of A3 Sportback to compete with X3

Then there are the next version's of the RS4 -- Twin Turbo version of the S4's compact V8

But the next RS6 is the best -- final engine spec to be confirmed -- engine could be a V8,V10 or W12 - and despite recent press saying it doesnt fit - the V10 engine apparently WILL fit -- we are talking in the region of 750BHP

I agree - a lot of the magazines do this - but Autocar seem to base there stories much more on computer images.

However - they have probably made a fairly good stab at it -- but that said you don't have to be a rocket scientist.

Any new model from now will have the new style grille - even those cars that don't at the moment (with the exception of the A2) will have by the end of the year, also the swage line down the side is becoming a string feature - it has also been said by Audi the next TT will be slightly larger to give better interior space - tag that lot onto a photo of a current TT and you have the Autocar image -- easy
