octavia exhaust

Featured Replies

My exhaust has just started blowing from a rusty crack:P just behind the cat on my 90 bhp tdi. i nipped in to kwik fit this after noon and was quoted nearly 300 quid for a new front pipe with cat . After picking myself up off the floor, i phoned the local motor factors and got one for 180 inc. vat with a refundable surcharge on the old unit of 20 pounds. DO you think that is a reasonable price ? I m having a new cambelt ,tensioners and water pump fitted on wednesday and have arranged with the garage to have the exhaust fitted for a nominal fee.Do they get money back on old cats?

BTW yesterday me and a couple of mates did a 28 mile charity bike ride in aid of cancer research and to date have raised in excess of £500.Its the first time ive ridden a bike for over35 years so i have some sore points this morning, but cant understand why everyone keeps asking me where s my horse?:confused:

phil should know this, something ill be interested in if i decide to go the diy route too ;)

kwik fit are a class a rip off mate, id rather make something up myself.

you can get a decat miltek downpipe for 100odd quid that will fit

There's a worthwhile quantity of platinum in a catalytic convertor.

there was a woman on the news a few years ago who goes around chelsea in london with a dustpan and brush brushing up dust and dirt at the side of the road to pick out small minute particulars of platinuim from it which she hopes to have enough to retire

Scrap value on cats is between £20-40, our head office now has all the replaced ones back to recycle..

Phil

so does your company buy them if someone brought their old cat into you ?

deos anyone know where i can get a decat pipe for my 110 tdi??? im having a longlife exhaust system fitted in a few weeks hopfully :) but the cat will remain in the system if im correct :S i think my cat is at the front and not in the back box.....

Longlife will probably make you one. If it is just a de-cat then all they are doing is putting in a straight piece of pipe. If you wanted a bigger bore downpipe and de-cat thats a different thing altogether. You would need to know what flange (he he) your turbo has on it.
