Suzuki SJ/vitara?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, considering getting either a little samurai or a vitara... (thinking more likely for the SJ due to small engine, cheap insurance and tax).

Anybody got one of these? Use it for offroading or anything like that?

They seem to be worth more than it looks like they should?

Just really looking for opinions and anyone with experience or maybe who has got one of these as well? Cheers

Good offroad due to the short wheelbase, terrible on road refinement and comfort, out neighbours used to have a Suzuki Jimny 1.3 Auto and it was poor

thanks, not too worried about on road comfort (still got oct vrs for that)... just want a cheap little off roader for a bit of summer fun.

And yeah, looking at the small engines as they look pretty easy to work on... hmm,

They both rust rather spectacularly, but the mechanicals are tough.

Have had both. Agree with comments about rust. Both very impress off road, with right tyres. I'm a hill farmer and recon the SJ would go anywhere that I ad the B*lls to take it!

Almost as capable as a quad in my respects.

Had both these motors on true M+S tyres

Now have a Daihatsu Fourtrak.

Still very capable but as vehicles get bigger and heavier they are less able off road but more able to carry and tow.

The SJ (aka the "turnover")/Jimny is a true off-roader. The Vitara is a small road-going Suburban Useless Vehicle.

I hired a vitara in cyprus to drive through the akamas.. was brilliant fun!

Even if i did take it back the next morning with sand in the dials, two knocking cv joints and a crack in the rear diff! Oops.. lucky for me sixt dont check for mechanical damage when you return them!
