Very BIG insurance problem!!!!!!!!!

Featured Replies

Ok i think i have an extremely big problem with my car insurance.

My insurance is up for renewal this coming Monday (Bank Holiday!!!!!) I'm with Chris Knott who sent out my renewal the other week. I sent back the completed paperwork and have been waiting for the confirmation etc. I now find when i get in from work today that i've been left a message by them asking me to call regarding my renewal..... It looks as though my paperwork has gone missing in the post somewhere and they've never received it. I didn't get in from work till after they closed @ 5pm. I've tried phoning them but their number just says that the office is closed and is only open Monday - Friday 9 till 5. Now i'm assuming with it being a bank holiday they'll be closed Monday too. That leaves me with a rather severe problem of my insurance running out on Monday and not being able to contact them to confirm they've not received my renewal request. The renewal i got from them also says that any failure to renew lapses the policy etc etc etc..... Does this mean i will loose my full no claims because it's not been renewed???? What am i supposed to do about the fact my car will be uninsured as of Monday????

Anybody any advice???? I can't just phone the likes of Direct Line etc and get sorted that way cos of my mods that's why i'm with Chris Knott etc....

I'm in a big flap here at the moment and don't know what to do now!:eek::confused::eek::confused::eek:

Cheers

Dave.

calm down dear :)

You won't loose your no claims, is there a 24hr claim line you can ring to seek advice?

I've seen a claims number somewhere on my existing policy......... Not sure if it goes to Chris Knott though or the current insurer etc..... I'll have a look.

I've found the claims number but it's with the insurer and not Chris Knott....... I've tried calling it anyway but they say there's nothing they can do or advise me as they only deal with claims etc.......

You could try Adrian Flux, they're open Saturdays and were cheaper than Chris Knott for me.

See your other thread for my post....

What time does your policy run out, just don't drive after it runs out and call them first thing on Tuesday morning, sure they will be able to take payment over the phone and start your policy immediately.

Look at your other thread. Who are your insurers? Some of us might have a 24 hour number for them. Claims Dept might be a separate department or organisation acting on behalf of your insurers, that's why they probably can't help.

Not convinced by any means you will be covered from the time of expiry to the time when you actually renew. The 14 days 'grace' could be a myth

keep us posted.

Ok i'm now officially embarrassed to have been flapping like a girl!!!!!!!

I've just spoken to Adrian Flux and got my next years policy through them..... Even got it £30 cheaper too!!!!! I was gonna try them the other week but last year they were nearly £100 more than Chris Knott so never bothered with them this year.

It's with some company i've never heard of... Somthing red X who are apparently part of the Lloyds group???

Anyway thank you one and all. And i'm gonna go and demolish my 8 cans of new style Kronenberg 1664 now to calm back down again.:thumbup::thumbup:

Make sure you contact Chris Knott first thing on Tuesday, then if your paperwork turns up in the post they don't go ahead and renew your old policy and charge you accordingly :)

See no need to panic was there ;)

You could have just relied on the seven days grace period :)
