Just had a possible dodgy oil change Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi Peeps

I have just had my tracking done, and thought I would have a oil change aswell, just got home and they left the empty in the boot, it was 10w 40w I thought VRS were 5w 40w, is this gonna kill the car, or will it be ok for a couple months when it will get another change?

Damn you garage's....

Ps tracking was spot on, well I hope it is.

Is it a PD spec oil?

Simon

You must use an oil which meets specification VW 505 01. The following oils are approved to that specification:

Castrol GTD 505 01 5W-40

DEA Ultec Diesel SAE 5W-40

Delphi Prestige Diesel Plus 5W-40 (synthetic-based)

Esso 505 01 5W-40

Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL PD SAE 5W-40 (fully synthetic)

Granville Topaz Diesel 5W-40 (semi-synthetic)

Madit 505 01

Migrol Special S-Plus

Millers XFE-PD SAE 5W-40 (semi-synthetic)

Motul 6100 5W-40

OMV syn com diesel

Q8 Formula Excel 5w40 (fully synthetic)

Shell Helix Diesel Plus VA 5W-40 (semi-synthetic)

VAG-branded 505 01 505 00 High Lubricity Engine Oil 5W-40 - G 052 167 A2

- (Part No: ZGB 115 QLB 00 462 - RRP £32.90 inc VAT for 5 litres)

Yep know all the details of what is needed, its just they have used mobile1 in this already, what should I do, will it be ok for a month or should I get it out now. I have the list of whats ok already thanks, thats how I knew it was wrong, will it kill the engine if its in there for a month, as the old oil was black and well worn.

The oil was mobile1 for petrol diesel????

Well looks like another oil change then, aif no defo yes no answers, great, might aswell have just wiped my **** with some fivers this morning.

The PD engines require a specific oil because of the very heavy load placed on the camshaft lobes by the need to both pressurize the vapour and inject it.

If it was me I'd change it - I should imagine others who might come along will say the same.

Can you not complain - they should have known it was not the correct oil ?

take it back and jump up and down,

if you leave it in and it kills your engine and turbo are they going to pay!!!???

Agreed, take it back immediately and get it sorted to your satisfaction - you are paying the £££ so make sure you're happy and they have done the right job!

Well oil now changed to Pd specific stoooof, what a pain, didnt go back to the place didnt really trust them again, and they werent the happiest people I have ever met, but they had laser tracking, oh well live and learn

Id drive back asap and just drive onto a ramp thats avalable in the garage, and say you will move it once the right oil is in. And filter 'cos il will have thick oil in. Dave

man what a bummmer! so what is actually the best oil for skoda fabs?

well i use Comma Diesel PD 5w-40 in mine. Its only been out about a year and i didnt see it on the list above. It designed for that engine and meets requirements on VW 505.01. Mind you im bias as only use comma in all the cars i service

Glad to hear you have the right oil in now, but not happy that the other people have got away with it :( You should put something in writing and explain exactly why you will be not be using them again.

Poor service and poor satisfaction is tolerated too much in this country.

Trading standards, all the way. Id not let any garage get away with that.
