Needed doing

Since it was a decent day I decided to give the car a clean and get rid of the multiple bird strikes that'd appeared during the week. Didn't use anything fancy just a quick rinse and then the Guard-X stuff I got with the car from the dealer.

About halfway through I realised I had puncture on the nearside rear, a nail had gone through the sidewall so I jacked it up to change it. About 5 months ago I had flat at the front that I had to end up calling the RAC out to get the alloy off as it had corroded on the hub so badly. This one was just as bad so I called the RAC again, when the guy arrived he spent 8 minutes rotating and smacking the wheel to try and loosen it, he said in almost 20 years of call-outs that it was the worst he'd ever had to do. If your wheels are off kids stick some copper grease on them them before they're refitted! Anyway the inside of the wheel ended up looking like this :( (Top marks to the RAC though, 25 mins between me calling them and them turning up )

Corrosion all the way around:

While I waited for SWMBO to finish work the Furby posed for a few photos:

Need these for the gleam

:cool:Car looks great mate.

:)I see the alloy wheel corroding to the hub problem all the time in the garage I run. I don't want to start a big "anti-dealer" debate, but it's mostly caused by whoever services the car not removing the wheels to inspect the brakes when the car is serviced. Every service I do all the wheels come off, and in the case of a car having alloys the hub and wheel are cleaned and LIGHTLY smeared with copper grease.

Mattandy - Car is cracking mate, I know all about the birds striking, I came to collect my car from work and the found it had been dive bombed, the roof was caked in the stuff.

I've got the same problem with one of my wheels that it's stuck on the hub so Ill mention that to the garage when I get it serviced and tell them to copper grease it.

Black magic always comes up really well.

Top job mate.

Davy

Looking good. I suppose I ought to do mine now - though no doubt it'll rain as soon as I do.

That looks awesome - that's some shine you've got there

Good tip about the copper grease :)

Kay.

Was going to give mine a good clean today after the run out in the country yesterday she was all dirty, but its been raining since about midnight here so its not getting done today!

Nice job dude. Black looks like liquid when you get it right. :)

Sorry to hear about the puncture and wheel.

Just noticed the TOTAL-VAG stickers! Must keep my eye out for you, think i saw a black one drive past me last time i was there maybe it was you? Car is looking great black always comes up well when clean.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Needless to say it rained last night  and when I went out to the car this morning it had aquired four new strikes :rolleyes: Makes you wonder why you bother sometimes :D

After I get the new tyres fitted on the back I'm going to go around the car and do it myself to stop it happening again. Next time I get a puncture I may not be able to make myself a sandwich and watch TV while waiting for the RAC to turn up with a trolleyjack and a heavy hammer :D

I added them yesterday! Had them hanging around the flat for a while now so I thought it was a good time to put them on.

I like the shiny paint work.

It's just something they put on there to protect themselves. It's a full sized, W rated tyre so it's fine for above 50.

First time I've used a car park for a photo spot before, I normaly take it out to some of the country lanes around the back of mine for photos.

Cheers Skodagirl
