poor starting Felicia 1.6Glxi

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just looking for some reassurance perhaps..??..

My 1.6Glxi , owned from new W, was in for service the other week..it had main dealer servicing from new until 4 years ago when Skoda had other plans and the local dealers went..

Since then it has been to a very trusted local garage.

This time after service the starting was sluggish..it would always start up but the rev counter hovered very low....sometimes it would nearly die out..but most times after a rev up it would be ok although gutless at tickover. It has always from new burst into life

...reading threads and noting a tick by throttle body cleaning on the work sheet..I took a chance and disconnected the battery over night...much to my relief in the morning with battery re connected;)...starting was instant as it always used to be...and all seems to be restored to health. Instant starting..revs lift to 1375 then settles straight back to 1250 until after a few minutes to 1000 then to just below 750 once happily warm. (all approx by dash rev counter)..as it always has from new. No hesitation to pull away, pulls excellent in fifth at low revs..... so all as before.:)

**The radio is a removable front panel type so there was no worries about loosing the code...so only dash' clock to reset.

Now.....have I done right.???? Just checking that I won't have upset anything.?? Yes, I know I should have gone back...and got the garage to do it..if only for their future ref..but all seems happy again...3 weeks on.

Please don't take my experience as a technical wizz thing to do...I posted to get reassurance/or not.....from those who really know about these things...although it seemed to work ok with mine..

Its possible that the battery charge was well down after the service ( ignition being left on all the time and mechanic having the radio on) Ive had the same problem when i left my amp on overnight, it ran like **** until i disconnected the battery for half an hour

:iagree: - after my MOT I found the radio volume set down at 5; I normally run it at 10, to overcome tyre roar rather than cos I like it loud!
