Hi everyone. This is my first post, but I've been a member since December 2007, and Octavia Sport 140 PD (DSG) owner since October 2007.

Firstly,I would like to thank VRStu for the advice about removing the radio, I was fitting the Dension Gateway 100. The radio came out OK, but you should really check the CD changer connector before ordering it, as it appears there are 3 different connectors.

The Ipod will change track, but I still haven't managed to get the playlists sorted.

However, I've recently had the performance drop off (engine running in safe mode) and I had the Mass Air Flow sensor replaced under warranty, which lasted a day, then the Exhaust Control warning light now comes on when the engine's warm and the car struggles to accelerate.

My question is this. How long should I run the car with this light on (only comes on after an hour of town driving). I have to travel about 80 miles per day to work (all motorway) and the car is scheduled to be back at the garage on Friday.

Hi :)

Suggest you post your enquiry in the Octavia section. This will probably get you a much faster answer than here. Hope you get it sorted

hi, do you mean the diesel particulate warning light? does it come up on its own or with the engine management light?

if its on its own then it just needs to rengenerate. take it for a nice long drive above 40mph. if it comes on the with the engine light then it needs to go back to the dealers

Hi,

The orange light that looks like an engine. The manual (on page 31) calls it the 'Control System for Exhaust'

The manual then states 'the engine management system selects an emergency program enabling you to drive to the nearest specialist garage by adopting a gentle style of driving'

I can live with the poor performance, but was more concerned that I would be doing somwe hidden damage.

Thats not an exhaust warning light, thats the Check Engine light. The car will have recorded a fault code on the computer, and this will need to be read to accertain whats gone wrong. The light has a multidue of meanings so I cant be more specific.
