Where can i put my phone?????

Featured Replies

Evening all,

I'm just trying to decide where to best place my phone holder on the dash. I have a holder that can either clip onto a vent or be stuck onto the dash. It's been on the drivers side middle vent since i got it but now the weather is getting warmer it'd be handy to be able to use the vent properly again. Also i dont like the idea of the phone battery being in the line of fire to either hot air or air-con cold air blasting at it for prolonged periods.

I've just re-positioned the holder to the section of panelling to the right of the cubby hole (replacement storage drawer on my car) but after using the car today i realised it's too hard to actually see the phone if anyone calls etc....

Has anyone any suggestions or pics of where they have placed a phone holder on the dash other than on the vents. Also what are the Brodit Pro clip???? things..... Do they need screwing in to the dash etc???? And can you then stick a normal flat backed phone holder to them???

Cheers

Dave.

Get a hands free that clips to the sun visor.

Get a hands free that clips to the sun visor.

Thing is as the phone has hands free speakerphone built in so i don't want to spen more money on a hands free visor jobby.

Just want to work out the best place to mount the phone holder etc.....

Again... Can you not attach it in some way to the sun visor?

Would save the dash any damage.

Not that i can think of.......

If the only way forward is screwing to the dash then it'll stay clipped to the vent.... There must be a suitable position on the dash that the holder can be stuck to using sticky pads i just can't think where it is.

First page select product search. Second page put Fabia in the LHD/RHD search on the left hand side. There are a few options.

I have one in my Renault, they are very good:thumbup: Not cheap though.

Hmmmmmmmmm Looks like they do 2 pro clip brackets for the fabia.......

One that mounts over the vent again..... But doesn't clip to the vent so i could possibly position it between the vents.... As long as i could still get to the hazards button.

And another that mounts on the side of the transmission tunnel. I have storage pockets fitted to the sides of the transmission tunnel so would have to confirm i could still fit the bracket.

Think i would just go for the bracket rather than the Brodit phone holder as well as looking at the brackets i would be able to stick my phone holdser on with a sticky pad.....

Anybody got any pics of the Brodit pro clip brackets in place on a fabia?????

I dont have a fabia, but do have 2 of those brodit clips in my octavia. They are really good and I would recommend them to everyone.

Sounds like they might be the way to go then...... As long as they look ok.... Hopefully someone will have some fabia pics. :)

I've just thought that an option could be to get one of each and use the upper one for the phone and the lower one for my ipod which i currently just lay in the little tray in front of the ashtray.

Watch out for the vent type clips, the vent fins are very fragile and can break. Warranty wont pay out for them either.

From the diagram the brodit pro clip vent bracket looked to fasten to the trim around the vent rather than the vent itself....... Does it actually clip to the vent itself then???

This is one of the clips fitted to my Octavia, it has the standard Nokia phone holder screwed onto it.

looks like to brodit one, clips around the vent trim (eg. upper and lower where the vent meets the dash to me, so not onto the vents themselves.

also try car phone brackets: nokia car kits, Brodit Apple iPhone Holders: Smart Phone accessories, similar to brodit but may have different points to attatch.

There is another maker that I cant just find at the mo.........

I use brodit at the mo, have 1 in the Octy and have 2 on order for the Van. I am using MountOnUs - Brodit Mounting Solutions for Vehicle Communication Accessories Online. as they seem cheap enough at the moment.

Sometimes wise to search on ebay for "brodit 12345" where 12345 is the item code as can be cheap on there too.

When I mounted my phone holder in my Octy I just used some double sided pressure tape. Stuck really well, but comes off very easily with no marking to the dash trim.

Look to the right instead of to the left. I have mine mounted (using No More Nails double sided tape) to the right of the steering wheel on the section of dash above the vent / light controls etc.

Here are some pictures of my Brodit kit for the N95 in my fabia. I think it is fantastic, phone is in an excellent position to use for both inbuilt hands free and also google maps! The Brodit will hold the phone at any angle, ie both landscape and portrait and also allows full and easy use of the slide. If you only have the standard 12v connection i would recommend avoiding the holders with the in built power cables due to its location by the handbrake. Im sure it could be slide accross to go over the hazzard light, but still allowing access. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestions and also tyhe pics of the proclip..... Might try the position to the right of the steering wheel and if no joy i'll go for the pro clip and mount it over the hazards button as it looks like you'd still be able to push the button when reqd.

Cheers
