Off topic but isnt the new tax prices a pain. Makes car choosing and finding even harder.

I'm not sure it is that much of a pain. Basically road tax up to a year or so ago was a flat fee 180 ish quid. So in my mind at least tax is 200 a year regardless, if it's less great. If it's more then is it that much more and over 3 years does it equal much if anything in real terms as to what you loose on the car.

It possibly does, but driving a 1.8T means I much be high anyway so not saving much either way.

I see what your saying. Problem is are road tax for the new systems is only £125 per car :D 1.8t is about £270. Good job are insurance has come down :)

Brother in law is looking at buying a 350Z. Wonder if he'll change his mind when he finds out it'll be £450 to tax  unless he buys an import ;)

The maxidot opens up a wealth of menus and customisable settings :) It is an upgraded information centre, and adds a bit of class to the dashpod.

If nothing else, it will certainly increase the desireability come resale time :)

I very much doubt it will make any difference to a car that's a few years old

Maxidot would decrease desirability for me if you can't see it with polarising glasses.

The good old red light works fine :)

Red light??

I have polarizing glasses, and have not had problems with viewing the maxidot displays...

Regardless, it WILL increase desireability come resale, as would any option imho. Can't imagine anyone saying "Nah, I don't want this one because its got maxidot/cruise/sunroof" etc.

But at the same time I can't think person would put any significant weight on maxidot.

Alloys maybe, metalic paint maybe, maxidot almost no chance IMHO.

Two cars next to each other maxidot wouldn't make a dot of difference to me if the other car had anything more useful.

If they are the same then the mileage, condition and paint colour plus servicing and remaining tyre tread would all come above maxidot for me.

It won't make it *less* desirable , but very few people buying a second hand car are even going to be aware of it's existance , let alone have two identical cars apart from a slightly different information display on the dash to choose between.

If you want to buy it on a new car because you like it then by all means go for it , but unlike something major like choice of colour , satnav or a sunroof , don't go fooling yourself into thinking it will make a blind bit of difference in a few years.

I have Maxidot and I wear polarized shades only, there is no problem seeing Maxidot ! Its not an expensive option................you might as well have it, how much a month is it going to cost over the life of your deal?!?

i think that depends on the buyer. I spent ages looking for an elegance with maxidot as I knew I wanted to put in an MFD2 plus it looks better. I ended up going for an L&K with the guranteed maxidot installed :D

with 75k on it in 3 yrs time nobody will give a **** what the spec is... it will be worth sweet fa.
