Rear wiper and front/rear wash stopped working

Recommended Posts

Help!

Anyone got any ideas on this problem?

My front and rear screen washers have both stopped working, as well as the rear wiper.

The front wipers and headlight washers behave normally - when I go to do a front screen wash the wipers operate, as well as the headlight washers, so I don't suspect the stalk.

Fuses for wipers and screenwash seem OK - is one common fuse for the washers and one common fuse for the wipers?

Not had chance to do a scan yet.

Are there any relays or fuses in the engine compartment I should be looking at as well? Is there a relay on the CEM that could be at fault?

I am not aware of any leaks of screen wash into the car anywhere, and the bottle isn't losing fluid either.

They worked two days ago, today they didn't.

Thanks

Funnily enough, checked that when I realised the rear wiper wasn't working. Tailgate is shut, and maxidot thinks it is shut as well. At first I thought just the washer circuits had failed. I will do a scan in the morning and see if anything shows up.

Is this looking like a new pump needed? If so, do you reckon Halfrauds will stock them? as I am driving to Somerset tomorrow morning so could do with sorting it today.

You are a star - I can always pop round if you have a spare :-)

I had a funny feeling it was the pump as it seemed a bit on the weak side the last time I used the washers on Thursday, and louder than normal.

I can always pick one up from TPS Bristol next week - I wonder if they will let me use a trade account from Sheepbridge TPS there?

Sussed it out - it is the bottom right hand relay on the CEM. If I swap it for the fuel pump relay the washers and rear wiper work.

it has 460 on the top and part number 1KO 951 253A

Looks like I need to call in to TPS on my way to Somerset tomorrow......

At least it is only a £5 part that has gone and not anything expensive!
