Five Year, (at a cost), Warranty roll-out on new models.

Featured Replies

Talking to my local dealers salesman recently, when wife's nipper was buying a Citigo. I run a 1.8Tsi Octy, so I know some of the staff. (Winters Skoda on the IOW)

A cost option, just implemented with the Citigo is the option to extend the warranty up to 5 years. The salesman says this will be rolled out across new models as they are introduced, so this will also presumably be available on the Rapid.

Cost on the Citigo, (It's in the brochure), is an extra £150 inc VAT for a 4 year warranty, - i.e. one extra year, up to 80k miles. Or for a mere £260 inc VAT, a five year warranty up to 100k miles.

I don't know what the cost will be on the new Rapid or the new Octy come to that, but an extra outlay of £260 on the Citigo for a 5 year manufacturers warranty seems a no brainer to me and very competitive.

A warranty is a 50/50 chance thing and by law of sod the thing that breaks/fails in the warranty period will not be covered.

I've only once taken out an extended warranty on a car & the one thing that failed wasn't covered. Never again.

Its a manufacturer warranty so covers you exactly the same as the first 3 years.

you sure about that?

Some are insurance policies and so don't which is a bugger.

If it does, then it's certainly good.

Dads just took this out on his yeti he just ordered. It's on the options list as either an extension to 4 or 5 years.

jrw is right with the warranty. IF you add the warranty to a factory order it is an extension of the manufacturers warranty.

The + 4/5 years has to be on factory order though - so if there is a car available from port the extension cannot be added.

it was out a fair while before the citygo

You can also contact SUK and add it after as well which i need to enquire about, as long as your 3 year warranty hasn't expired.

edit: Says only on new car orders but i have emailed them as i know people have contacted SUK and been given this cover.

Hey, i just bought a new fabia vrs estate - and it came with 5 year skoda warranty included in the price. Nice!

I've been stung by this before, bought my used 300C from Pentagon and it came with 1yrs warranty ... when I went to get the car realised it was with the RAC and they did everything they could to get out of it.

For example, the tin brake disc shield which sits behind the hub and which protects your disc on the back from debris etc. and dissipates heat out of the brakes came loose and they told me it was "trim" and wouldn't cover it :dull:
