I'm disappointed that Revo chose to remove my posts from their Facebook picture post because I challenged their absurd claims - http://www.facebook....f_t=share_reply

You'll notice a number of their comments reference John but mysteriously no comments now shown by John!

They claimed that their stage 1 on a customer's Mk 6 Golf GTi 2.0 tsi at Volkscraft Exeter had made 275bhp and often other customers had seen higher gains than that.

I commented that, as a Revo customer with a stage 1 remap on that same engine, 275bhp was overstating the gains and that realistically it would give 260bhp maximum. I stated that this was also based on experience of others across the various forums.

I even provided the link to JKM's vRS that was dynoed at 256bhp http://www.jkm.org.u...i-skoda-jkm.htm whilst running Revo stage 1.

Revo stated that they use independent dynos to provide accurate results and could provide results if required etc and that use of good quality fuel has a massive impact too.

I challenged Revo to prove their claims by us putting my vRS running Revo stage 1 performance mode 2 using v-power on to an independent dyno.  I said that if it made 275bhp I would be happy to be proved wrong and pay the cost of the dyno but if it didn't make 275bhp I suggested that Revo would pay for the cost of the dyno and refund me the cost of my remap.  That's when they removed my comments. Revo therefore aren't prepared to back up their claims and won't have anyone publicly challenge them.

I really rate their 2.0 tsi remap but they have always let themselves down with ridiculous claims.  For them to censor comments made on a social network site challenging those claims shows how pathetic they are.  I won't be recommending Revo to anyone again after this and won't be spending my money with them again either.

This is fantastic.. good ol' Revo attitude for you there. Although I personally don't have any experience with them, but a few of my mates have and they wouldn't go back to use them again.. as well as the bad rep I have heard from many other forums about. However they aren't all bad as they have some good rep with mainly petrol cars and produce some very aggressive torque maps.

They are stupid to do this I too have a Revo map, it is really good but mine is 242 bhp , but really good torque ( 333 lb ft) even there own website says 35 to 60 gain  http://www.revotechn...od=skoda#stage1

The arguments about remaps are largely pointless without data. Without the photos it's just bum dyno opinion! It's all very well stating a max BHP and torque value, but where they occur is kind of critical to how it drives, and how it really performs.

Some guy claiming 280-290 regularly seen on a stage 1, that's interesting.

I was going to go Revo originally but they spent more time slagging off the competition when I spoke to them, than they did selling me their map......hence I went with Shark, Ben was very professional, never even mentioned anyone elses map, let alone critisized them, it's one of my bugbears with the tuning industry in general, their seems to be a culture of slagging everyone else off, only to find that a few months later that very same person is working for the competition.

Bhp figures are pish anyways, its all about the drivability of the map

I went to rtech and they too were very professional, plus it was mapped on the rr and customised how i wanted it. For £200 aswell

You're right but it's the big figures that help to sell their remaps and they didn't like being challenged. They couldn't justify their claims so resorted to removing my comments.

Interesting Jonno VRs.

Have you ever spoken to Makefish on here?? If not I would suggest dropping him a PM about his experience with REVO claims.

The Makefish and Fluffmeister thread makes a good read, i have revo and really rate it, it drives as i want it but the overstating of provable results is annoying .

What a shame that REVO should have to resort to such tactics. I would have thought that their product was good enough to stand any test. As a matter of interest, I drove a REVO mapped  2.0 tsi FL VRS Octy quite recently with the option 2 setting & the performance was outstanding, I had a big grin on my face & then I tried the Launch Control      it was FASSSSssssssssstttt. I recon it was as fast as my Passat R36 if not faster :sun:

I had revo on my old LCR and at the time the car never ever made the claims on the output from my own experience they have always been optimistic with their numbers. Shame really as it was a good map and at the time I had really good service from them.

I remember that must be 5 years ago that was going on all about Revo's claims on their TFSI map.

I still take a peek from time to time ;)

Thanks to Hedge who guided me here! This has certainly stirred some memories from a few years back. I recall the thread that has been mentioned but can't find it but essentially REVO operate in the same way now as they did then, mainly to 'compete' with the likes of Custom Code and others with their over inflated claims.

For those that don't know, REVO take a standard manufacturers claimed output, in the case of the old TFSI this was 197bhp they would then upload the code and take it to a nearby mickey mouse rolling road get a read out of whatever they could muster and publicise this as the 'gain' i.e. there was no before and after for comparison. I recall they used the exact same method when the 1.8 TFSI came out and I am in no doubt REVO are doing the same with the latest TSI incarnation.

That said, I maintain that REVO have some of the best software available for VAG vehicles, especially petrol variants ...... just don't believe all the publicised hype!

I didn't realise it was even that scientific Steve; I thought they just made the numbers up! It's a shame because as you say their maps are good but they compromise their own integrity.
