Enabling Traffic Sign Assist/ Fatigue Detection

Featured Replies

I have a 7 seat edition on order but as a stock car it has lane assist but I wasn't able to specify the fatigue detection or traffic sign recognition which were on the nice to have but non essential list.

Is it likely I will be able to enable these or get them enabled by someone using VCDS?

Is there anything else I might want to get enabled at the same time?

Thanks

Surely you know better when you're tired and should or should not be driving? Also, if it hasn't been improved since the one in my O3 vRS, then it's useless as it only ever appeared to be based on amount of time you'd been driving, rather than anything useful. Either that, or I always did a good impression of being awake even when I wasn't entirely :o.

This can be enabled using VCDS as far as I'm aware - but, again, surely you should be looking out for traffic signs? And the Columbus shows the speed limit for most roads anyway.

By the same logic I have windows so shouldn't need the a/c?

I like having lots of gadgets and gizmos!

Opening the windows in the winter won't warm the car up though.

So do I, but useful ones. I had Park Assist on the O3 vRS - didn't spec it this time around as it was nothing more than a party piece you used once to try out and once to scare the kids with the 'magic car' (the latter of which can apparently also be accomplished with ACC/TJA and the car stopping itself :D). Area View, on the other hand, is awesome, and well worth the extra.

Engine heat will heat the car up though. Old style warm air blown heating.

I have Area View on the car. And a heated windscreen. Unfortunately no heated steering wheel, there were no cars around with area view, heated screen and heated wheel!

Do you need VCDS for this or could it be done using OBDEleven?

Thanks

No idea, I have VCDS so never used OBDEleven, sorry.

Two of the most unwelcome / unused features on our current Octavia include fatigue detection and lane assist.

The fatigue detection seems completely random, and just startles me when I'm wide awake. The odd occasion I have felt tired behind the wheel it remained completely silent.

Lane assist is one of those features that you use once and turn off. After two or three adjustments of the wheel it asks me to take over the steering, plus given the state of the roads, and the white lines it spends more time 'amber' than 'green' so really isn't particularly effective.

Plus, the debacle I've just been through getting a replacement windscreen thanks to the lane assist camera is enough to ensure my next car doesn't have it or the bloody screen mounted camera.

Lane Assist on the O3 wasn't particularly nice when set to 'adaptive' mode. As you say, it seemed to bomb out lots even with both hands firmly on the wheel.

However, Lane Assist on the Kodiaq is a completely different beast - it is much less intrusive to the feel of the steering, and I haven't yet had it bomb out in 'adaptive' mode... apart from the time I did take my hands off the wheel to see how long before it did moan (and the answer was a good 10+ seconds, even going round a mild bend on the motorway!). In fact, I've kept Lane Assist turned on permanently in the Kodiaq - something I could not do in the O3.

Makes sense, these systems must be improving all the time. Good to hear it's much better in the Kodiaq.

Thanks for this. I was hoping to hear it was possible rather than a debate as to whether it's any good!

Any active VCDS users in Hampshire? I'm in Hampshire but happy to travel!

P.s. I see it is possible!

It's good for your sanity to get out of the same forum from time to time...

Filters? Help!

Sorry, the fact you see less results than me I assumed you'd maybe filtered the results somehow.

That's the guide I followed using obdeleven premium. It worked perfectly.

  • 1 year later...

I have a Kodiaq 2020 model with Virtual cockpit. I have Lane assist, and would like to enable Traffic Sign Assist.

Does anyone know, if this guide would work on a Kodiaq with Amundsen and Virtual cockpit ?

https://www.ascoding.ch/en/activate-sign-assist/

I have enabled traffic sign assist with OBDEleven. Works perfectly. Fatigue detection I do not believe you can.

I have access to VCDS. And only want to enable traffic sign assist. But have not found anywhere proof of this is possible with a virtual cockpit. Is there any difference using VCDS vs OBDEleven?

The core idea is the same, but VCDS has more options and is more reliable.

Virtual cockpit does not have any effect on coding, the basic inputs are te same as for traditional clocks.
