Does not seem right.

I am 60 years of age,I have just changed my Evo X fq360 for a Fabia vrs,I was insured with Adrian Flux costing £530 per year, when getting a quote for the vrs,to swop it over, they said their was a £25 cost for swopping, when I said pressing a few buttons on a computer does not warrant £25 they said OK forget the charge but the vrs to insure would be £503,now I cannot possibly see how a Evo fq360 can be roughly the same as a vrs,its just not right,so I went with Saga for £190....one heck of a difference.

Its car insurance, it doesn't have to make sense. When you call up for a quote, the person on the other end pulls a lever, watches the numbers spin then just reads out whatever figure was randomly generated in the hope you accept. At least that has always been my experience.

Don't forget they add 25% to the randomly generated number before telling you what it is, as they use this 'extra' premium to haggle with.

The trick with insurance is never stay loyal and jump every year simples

I'm with Saga, they take some beating with us oldies

Hi,

In the real world yes the Fabia world be a much lower insurance group than the Evo however there are many factors that dictate the premiums and without reviewing your details I couldn't really comment further at the moment. Whilst I appreciate that you have now gone to Saga Insurance I would be very grateful if you would be so kind as to forward me your details so I could investigate it at our end.

Regards,

Dan.

The fact that you have gone with Saga would suggest that it is a standard and not modified. It may well be that the Adrian Flux insurers are more interested in modified vehicles or could just be that the vRS isn't flavor of the month in the industry at the moment.

I've given up trying to favom out how insurance premiums work.

Yes,I think it is all guesswork with the figures insurance companies come out with, and Saga does look after us oldies, the thing that got me annoyed is,I have full no claims not even points for speeding a REALLY good postcode, and no disrespect to the vrs[its a great little motor]but its not packing 360bhp,does not do 0to 60 in 4 seconds and its not worth £30000,so how it was only twentyfive pounds less was incredible, actually every other quote I had was under £260,half as much as Adrian Flux, maybe they are on massive commision, there has to be something wrong.End of rant.
