Silver Indicators - Brightness?

Featured Replies

Just a quicky, I've just tried some silver indicator bulbs that I acquired from a mate. Fitted fine in the rears and they do look amazing!

Trouble is, they are literally half the brightness of the OEM Orange ones...and so I have gone back.

I am not sure of the make on these, probs cheapies, so are the Philips or Osram's bulbs worth the moola and are they as bright as the originals?

Cheers!

Are you sure those bulbs are not on their last legs or are the right watt rating for the car? I bought some £6 ones off ebay last and they were as bright as the standard ones. I assume you are refering to the fronts.

Unfortunately they are dimmer as some of the visible light is covered (the chrome effect on the bulb) to get rid of the orange blob look in the headlight / tail light.

I had a set and took them out as like you describe they were just not bright enough

I had Philips Silvervision in my 2004 V70, front and back. No problem with brightness.

I don't like Osram's version much, they're too blue when unlit.

Silvertec or Osram, they aren't as bright as OEM...

Left side non-standard, right side - standard.

IIRC my diadems look brighter than the orange ones I took out

Nice one all. Good know. Might take a nose at the Diadems....

Bought my Osram Diadem/Stealth which are much better in brightness and have a better orange tinge to it than the stocks.
