Spoiler fade

Featured Replies

Best way to restore my spoiler? It's red and has started to fade slightly so want to get it back!

Getting cruise control fitted on Saturday. Hopefully picking up some freshly refurbed alloys from a member too and then may look at reverting back to standard suspension.

Decided to keep the car for the time being after weeks of contemplating selling.

If its fading under the clearcoat, respray is only option. I assume the roof is OK?

What suspension setup are you running as I may be looking to lower mine slightly, may be able to do a deal

Roof is absolutely fine. Just the spoiler that's of concern! How much for a respray for the spoiler roughly?

I've seen prices of £80 - £150 on here over the years.. It tends to be done on the car, as it's bonded on.

You could try polishing it back up? Although, I have a theory that polishing it up too many times is what causes the clear coat to fail...

But if you're thinking of painting anyway, could get a few years out of polishing before taking the plunge.

My spoiler fades regularily, but as said here, touch of polish (I use AG SRP) brings the colour back for a little while (weeks rather than months), even with EGP on top.

Never heard that theory before, but will keep an eye on it for now.

I dont think reds have a clear coat like the yellows its most likley 2 pack (colour and lacquer in one) it will be the mettalics that have a clear coat and which suffer from lacquer peel. My spoiler and lower half of my rear bumper have faded and they do polish up but i think i need to get a machine on it for a good result.

My red spoiler was faded but after a quick go with the machine polisher it's good as new again
