DIY Spaceship - Possible?

In 2008, two Danes met to discuss a dream they both had - building a spaceship and going into space.

The meeting took place in a project that one of them (Peter Madsen) had just finished - the largest amateur built submarine in the world 'UC3 Nautilus'. He had also been playing around with amateur rocketry.

The other guy (Kristian von Bengtson) had worked for NASA and knew a bit about surviving in space. Together, they felt, they could pull it off.

They founded Copenhagen Suborbitals and now 5 years later another 30 guys and girls (with various needed skills) have joined the group.

Peter and Kristian work full-time (making their money traveling with motivational speeches about the project) while the rest show up in their spare time (no pay but lots of fun).

The dream is funded by companies and private individuals who all donate what they can. Everything is open source - no secrets - just inspiring the world with their 'you can do it' philosophy.

The next LIVE TEST is planned (weather permitting) for this coming Sunday June 23rd - early in the morning (10AM London time but time may change) - and will be a test of Active Guidance - they provide LIVE FOOTAGE on their website.

I'm psyched :)

Maybe you think this is cool too and want to learn about building your own spaceship.

Lots more videos on their Youtube Channel...

Cheers Pixel Viking,

Nice to see what amateurs (meant in a good way) can achieve . I wish them luck

Think it must be based on the citygo, can see a faint likeness in the colour of the rocket

Why not build a small rocket and fit it to your Citigo :)

Imagine sitting at a red light with your finger on the BOOST button...

When I saw the title I thought it was Bossfox's latest project. :)
