Amundsen+ Bluetooth

Hi guys,

I recently had VCDS on a fellow members brand new Furby, I believe it was an elegance. The intention was to see if Bluetooth could be enabled on his Amundsen+, I have done this on a number of Octavia Blacklines with the Amundsen+ so was expecting it to be straight forward, however when trying to access the Navigation module long coding helper I got a message that no long coding assistance was available for this ECU. And indeed the check boxes were all there but nothing to tell me what they did.

Are the Fabia's being fitted with a new model Amundsen+ now which Rosstech have not yet added the coding for? Or am I missing something?

Has anyone enabled Bluetooth on a new Fabia and if so how did you do it?

Any help gratefully received so that I can help a fellow member.

I seem to remember that even if you do enable it you have to add a microphone to the unit.

Yes I believe you are correct, but I think it was required as much for music streaming as for phone use.

 

Anyone know if the latest Fabia's are using a new model Amundsen+? maybe the same one that they are putting in the new Octavia's?

The Amundsen+ fitted to the Monte Tech is not the latest version as the DAB can't be enabled on it.

This might explain why the Bluetooth can't be activated as well.

On the Tech it has a separate Bluetooth module fitted that works in conjunction with the Amundsen.

I only know this as I spoke to Skoda UK to see if the DAB could be enabled like the 2014 MY Fabias can but this is what I was informed by their technical department.

 I have a 2014 VRs just delivered on 2nd September with the Amundsen + fitted that has DAB as a £90 add on at the factory but I notice is now included in the Amudsen + at the new price of £630 instead of the £535 that I paid plus £90. I still had to pay for the bluetooth as an extra at £200 or so pounds. Shame the aunndsen+ still has a stutter that the origional Amundsen never had.

 

This is my 3rd Fabia 2 Vrs in 3 years but now regret should have saved up the pennies and tried the new Octavia VRs instead. Oh well there still is the lottery!

Question: I am about to buy a used Amundsen from ebay. I want to know wether the Amundsen units have integrated  bluetooth or not. If they haven't I will not buy it. I know that if they have it I have to buy the mic separately. So, because I don't want to throw my money, can someone answer me responsibly if the Amundsen has the bluetooth module in it? It is very easy to recognize if Amundsen+ has inbuilt BT module or not - on the radio you have label (stick) with following information:

MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00 - no BT installed (see picture here http://obrazki.elektroda.pl/9500614500_1344354633.jpg )

MAC AB:CD:EF:01:23:45 - BT installed (of course there will be different set of characters as it will be MAC of BT module like here http://www.penningmedia.de/wp-content/gallery/fse-rns315-gerateaufkleber/rns315-2.jpg)

The part numbers in your post are refering to VW rns-315. The skoda amundsen's part numbers start with 3T. So I am looking for a unit with a part number like 3TXXXXXXXX and a mac address with non-zero digits right???

For you the most impotent thing is non-zero MAC. I'm not sure if Skoda and VW parts are mapping 1 to 1 and only difference is in 3C. I bought VW version for my Fabia because they are more popular and it's easier to buy them in good price (at least in Poland). For new RNS315 with BT I paid less than 300euro.

Yes but you have red buttons illumination? Just in the case that Vw and Skoda do not have 1-1 mapping, if the unit has non zero mac then it will have 100% integrated bluetooth? Do you have a link from Poland with cheap rns-315?

Don't know, as I said it wasn't my car (Another members) so I didn't want to start pulling the dash apart to look for the sticker. The member (chriskay) is I believe now trading it for an Octy and hoping to carry the Amundsen across so I might eventually hear an outcome (Dealer supposedly sorting DAB & Bluetooth during the move) or get another chance to look at it in a chassis I am more familiar with.
