You just need to remove the old bush - it's easiest with a press but you don't need any special plugs - just a big socket or some suitable pipe. You can even do it by hand if you hacksaw through the outer case of the bush so that it collapses.

You'll need a press to fit the new bush - or a really good vice.

BTW: The partno you gave is for the housing & bush combined isn't it? You can just buy the bush & press it into your old housing - heaps cheaper. Febi 33973 will fit - they are for an Audi S3 and tighten the steering response a bit.

Cheers for that brad1 I'll take a look at the bushes only!

The black stud things are tools to fix the subframe in position but not sure if that's needed or possible when changing bushes as it fixes the part I want to replace?

I recommend giving the bolt threads (above the housings) a good soak with wd40 or similar for a few days before trying to remove.

Mine came out well except one. It came out half way then stuck, and I could not tighten it back up either. Ended up shearing it.

The housings came off a lot easier than I thought they would and back on too. Think I used a little Suspension Oil (so not to damage the rubber).

Had to get a garage to drill out the bolt, which included lowering the sub frame I think (note DSG box). I think he only charged me £100 or there about. Not bad considering.

If you can use pneumatic wrench, do so.

The tracking will require doing afterwards in any case.

I replaced the housings and bushes on mine. Good luck with yours.
