  1. Are these still available? Thinking of downsizing...
  2. I've been battling with an air con leak over the last 6-9 months that nobody can find the cause of. The gas eventually runs out/pressure switch trips after around 2-3 weeks of use. The Skoda main dealer have regassed it with dye twice and eventually blamed the condenser had been damaged. When I asked to be shown where the leak was we couldn't find it with their UV torch (in the dealer car park). I have since taken it to an air con specialist who have also regassed it with dye and checked it with their tracer/UV lamp when it had run out, they cannot find the leak. Its now got another 'double dose' of dye in the system + gas and I've had a go at checking for leaks myself with a UV torch. Below is a pic of the pipe that joins up to the pressure sensor which I think looks like a possible leak. Anyone have any knowledge of air con leak tracing? Thoughts? Thanks
  3. My 2007 TFSI oil comsumption went from 1L every 1500-2000 miles to next to nothing after changing the PCV for the latest version.
  4. I would avoid Falken Ze912's. Bit scary in the wet! Last a long time though. I replaced them with these: http://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b0s134p63660/TOYO_TYRES_CAR_TOYO_T1SPORT_PROXES_TOYO_T1_SPORT_-_225_40R18_92Y_TL_ Transformed the car! Quieter, grippier in all areas. Not sure how long they'll last though.
  5. Pretty good guide there! Mine went while it was under warranty so Skoda fixed it but handy to know how its done as I don't think it'll last that long.
  6. I've got a 2007 tfsi with similar millage which has a simlar noise. I'm convinced its the air con compressor. Seems to make more noise when 'econ' is turned off, I believe the compressor always runs but just at very little load.
  7. My vRS does the same, quite annoying really. Local dealer says there is no play in the engine/gearbox mounts. Getting the torque/dog bone mount changed next week. Will let you know if it fixes the issue.
  8. I've just about worn out a full set of Falken 912's. I've managed to get over 30k out of a set with rotating back to front etc. I personally wouldn't go for them again! I'm no expert on tyres but I found the compound just too hard for our temperatures. When it rains I got a lot of understeer in corners and can spin the wheels on straight bits of road when accelerating at speeds like 50-60 - it’s not like I'm putting that much power down in a standard petrol vRS. In summer and its warm out they aren't that bad but how often do we get nice summer’s day? Think I’ll go for Falken 452 next. They we're pretty good on my Fabia.
  9. This may be a stupid question but I'm guessing this mod fits the tfsi pre FL vRS's?
  10. Its the sunlight sensor I think. When the sun shines onto your car the fan will go up one notch to compensate, when its in the shade you'll notice it will drop back down a notch.
  11. I've had this on mine. Seems to be the plastic trim that touches the brake light housing. I cut up an old bike inner tube and slid it inbetween the gap. Certaily solved it for me anyway and didn't need to remove any of the trim. Now to stop the roof grab handles rattling :|
  12. Not sure about that gap but I also get the windnoise, I'm starting to think its coming from the mirror area. Maybe the use of some gaffer tape may help find out where this wind noise is coming from.
  13. wow near enough 17 pages of posts - just about everyone getting a free set of replacement coil packs. Surely Skoda's tfsi's must be affected too?
  14. Looks good, about the same as I'm doing. What offset are those wheels? I just need to get my tyres fitted to the 16's I've bought, will post some pics when they are on the car.
  15. Had 452's on the fabia vrs which were pretty good for the money but didn't last that long. I went for the 912's for the octavia as I wanted a more all round tyre. Grip in the dry is good, done 9k so far and they have loads of tread left however I have found them to be pretty scary in the wet, unpredictable understear (obviously not helped with 18's) and you can still spin the wheels at 70 on occasion. A friend who went from the 452's to 912's on the same car has said the same, he wants rid. I have considered selling them as part warns and getting something with more grip however instead I've gone down the route of 16" alloys and some Nokian WR G2's for winter I would say go for 452's for a vRS and stay clear of the 912's - Next year will be Contisport 3's for me
