  1. Random question. MIB1 + Pixel 5 - I've lost my media controls since the upgrade, i presume the control method has changed. Anyone know if a FW upgrade will resolve this? I presume the new android version is not compatible.. UPDATE! I found this " I also recently started having this issue with a pixel 2, 3 XL, and 4a in a mazda. The solution I found was: Settings>about phone>click "build number" like 5 times to turn on developer options. Settings>system>advanced>developer options 2b. Under networking change "bluetooth avrcp" to a lower version. 1.4 worked for me but others had to do 1.3. Restart phone."
  2. Ha. Yeah, I would imagine over the last few months a lot of cars have been suffering with that. I've been letting the girlfriend drive my Octavia to the hospital to give it a good run a few times a week for this reason / cycling the petrol though it!
  3. Just so you know, you don't need to press the A button As soon as you touch the clutch it should automatically start, and when the aircon etc needs the engine to run the compressor it will start too.
  4. SkodaUK said otherwise. It was only ever done before due to it being exposed pretty much on the cambelt changed and it was a risk for snarling up cambelt/impeller problems. That water pump is an entirely different part and around £200 + labour, on top of cambelt change. Skoda's price is like £50 extra for a water pump - so no way that would be included in their waterpump change. Wouldn't worry about it if it's the same engine.. as the previous posts say, you might get a cooling issue but it's entirely different from previous designs and their issues
  5. Pretty poor service experience here. not entirely sure where i will be going in future: Car brought back in Sport mode by the drop off driver.. Dash cam always disconnected (fair enough during the work, but not during "test drives" Dash cam entirely removed on the last service and thrown on passenger floor. Had a nightmare with their service staff, trying to convince me that i needed a waterpump on a 1.4tsi (not run off the cambelt) ended up speaking to Skoda UK for clarification. generally dropped the ball on lots of things, things that with a quick call could have clarified and reduced my negative experiences. EG calling to say the dashcam had to come off for the MOT and they apparently couldn't put it back on. probably going to give bridge-water a try, the girl on their service desk seemed on the ball about if the water pump should be replaced during a cambelt change.
  6. Yes, SMC. since then they have got pretty rubbish.
  7. surely its the same ABS pump as it already controls the brakes for collision avoidance. I read something about retrofitting front assist which makes sense about the ABS, can't imagine what would be different about the pump...
  8. also, while we are talking about this, as someone with collision avoidance, i believe its the same radar unit as ACC (compared my unit with scans) anyone know if front assist can be upgraded to ACC, not sure if its just a stalk addition or if its a coded feature.
  9. I identify as an Apache attack helicopter, and find that offensive.
  10. Dealer are adamant that it needs to be done. given them a call about it again and spoke to someone else, she thinks the water pump is off the cambelt, even though the drawing i have says otherwise. Second dealer agrees there is no logical reason to change the water pump. plus the part is more than Skoda charge for the water pump (150), plus according to her system it doesn't mention anything about the waterpump as part of the servicing options for my car... Waiting for a call back from Skoda UK about this... FML Hopefully my pain now will help someone in the future!
  11. He went out and spoke to a tech who clarified. ugh.. Will give Skoda UK a call about it. really shouldn't be so painful an experience.
  12. CHPA, so the dealership are useless then... and they want me to bring my car to them for work :/ So... with a cambelt change is there any point getting the water pump done if its not part of the works. historically on my old FSI MK2 it was the done thing as they could seize and then trash the cambelt, i don't see the logic now. especially when the waterpump is £150..
  13. well, now i'm more confused, dealership checked my vin and said both pumps are electric and thus a cambelt only change is fine, the indies i've spoken to also said the same :\ different engines i'm guessing.. :s
