  4. I have the 1.4 TSI and with only 1000 on the clock the av. MPG. Is 39 which I am happy with as there is no motorway driving yet, just plodding around East Anglia at the weekends and back and forward down the A14 to the train station. I have opened things up to 5000rpm in 3rd to overtake a couple of times with no issues. Lovely car, we are happier by the mile.....
  5. Cheers, not the first time I've heard that either - if you see a camera kit for sale in a couplke of weeks and a grumpy post you'll know we are in the same club.....whatever happens it can't be worse than grinding off those stainless exhausts :-)
  6. Yes I saw this one: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/278228-rear-view-camera-kit-for-columbus/ I think when it comes before disassembling the entire car I'll just drop the head and jury rig the thing to check :-)
  7. Sadly not, its not an RGB camera although you could use it with an adapter from a specialist company although these are quite expensive and do not support the complete functionality. However many of them do give additional benefits such as the ability to connect a DVD player. I measured most of the available cameras on ebay and none fitted the existing hole either, so you are then into chopping the tailgate about....not my idea of fun!
  8. It needs an RGB harness and camera, the issue is as far as I have been able to find there are no appropriate direct fits for the boot handle or number plate lights for the camera. I've ordered one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171036204250?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 For £60 delivered I thought that it was worth a punt, the description has a fair amount on the connections and the coding of the head unit (you will need a VCDS cable or visit to one of us that has one). I also found the instructions for wiring the tow bar which are helpful for panel removing here: http://www.bertelshofer.com/dokumente/einbauanleitung/7BS003-22.pdf I'm intending to: - remove the head trim at the front and drop the head out - remove the glove box - use the guide above to remove the door sill trim channels, the rear left boot side lining, the boot lining, the rear pillar trim. - plug the cable into head unit and connect the +ve and -ve camera harness into the head via an inline fuse (I really don't want to pull out the whole fuse box) the current is tiny, a few mA so this will be fine and allow for a smaller 20mm fuse rather than a blade type. - run the two cables behind the glove box, along the door channels, and into the left side of the boot where the last wire will be connected to the reverse light. - then run the two cables up the rear pillar and throughout the rubber tube (dreading that bit) into the tailgate - during all of the above I'll wrap the wires to the existing harness with cloth tape to stop rubbing and squeaks - then I'm going to pop out a rear number plate light, take out the bulb and make a cut away so he camera sits at an angle, then I'm going to replace the bulb with a smaller high power LED and just tack in the camera with a lump of blue tack for now - finally I'll code the head, test it and set the camera angle before using Tigerseal to lock it in place and waterproof the modified number plate light, then pop back all the panels Hope this helps, as I said I have not done an of this yet (although I have on another cars) and I'm toying with fitting the MDI interface while I'm at it. I'll post again in a couple of weeks and let you know how it goes.
  9. I popped these onto my Yeti last week - and by 'popped' I mean: - Tried to fit trims without cutting pipes - IMHO looked horrible....so... - Removed bumper trim (easy, 3 x centre clips, 2 x hex screws) - Marked up twin pipes at same angle as the trim pieces.....wondered if pipes were stainless. - Started sawing (after masking saw ends to prevent scratching), found it is bl**dy stainless - Sawed....and sawed....and sawed,,,,,hacksaw broke - Fetched Dremmel with TC cutting bit (I use this to cut stainless ramps for pinball) broke two blades - Temper now more frayed than exhust pipe - Round to mates to borrow angle grinder - Safety glasses on - lobbed off pipes - 10 minutes flat - Hammered on trims with wood block - Snagged out the job with some fiddling to get them 'right' Learnings: - Happy I did this as the pipes look great (even 'she who must be obeyed' likes them) - It's not a job to be taken on without a grinder - You definately need to do this in a well ventilated area and mask off everything as the stainless sparks are hot and fly everywhere (including my eye despite the goggles) - The twin exhasts are a swine to cut if you are as picky as I am and want to keep the minor length difference - Despite the instructions don't cut them 'flat' they fit better with a slight angle Here's a pictures, I've also now recoded the software, fitted the boot protector trim (using Tiger Grip), the door trim foot guards, a brighter boot light, the bonnet sound absorber and the next project's going to be a rear view parking camera.
  10. Yep, having the same issue - I also found that when I enabled the cruise control display it cheerfully appeared once - and once only - never seen it since. This one has been widely reportrd as disabled now though. The other one that's foxed me to date is the teardrop wipe for the front windscreen, can't find it on the Yeti for love nor money.
  11. I don't believe so, there is no mention of one in the manual and when I activated the option using my VCDS cable it constantly gave a wear warning on ignition on, status and occasionally popped up while driving.
  12. I picked up my Yeti this week after a long delivery delay and while waiting I have been amusing mself by pulling a lot of VCDS info into one document for my own use. Well the Yeti came Wednesday and this morning bright and early I grabbed my VCDS and spent a happy 20 minutes tweaking the old bus the way I wanted. Here's the document - I hope it helps someone. Please note that I've not tested all the codes, that these are from the forum and are other folks contributions (thank you all), that if you do any of this and as a result your car goes wonky it's your own fault, etc. Yeti Mods.doc
  13. Arrived today, just been driving around for a couple hours and we are over the moon! Managed to scrounge a Yeti toy at the dealers too :-) Only downside is both the little silver trims we had dealer fitted to the bumper fell off, my son found one on the drive and the other was hanging on by one end. I put it down to over zealous polishing prior to sticking them on with tiny bits of double sided tape.....they won't fall off again I've stuck them back on with shoe sole adhesive.
  14. Well here's a little good news I've finally received a manufacture date (6/5) and as an apology for the delay my dealer has ordered piano black dash inlays (without the L&K) plus some outside trim and offered to fit them for us before delivery. With what we've saved we have coughed up for a cheap personalised number so I won't have a '13' plate, may help with the old luck a bit :-)
  15. Excellent, that will do it perfectly. I've found the 3M site and it looks easy enough to get hold of, many thanks. Still not sure how I missed that post in the first place though :-)
  16. It's the high gloss black that appeals, unfortunately our dealer could not find the codes (not surprising when he also could not find the sat nav options though). See your point about the L&K logo but as I have some mod plans to inset a graphic I'm OK with it.
  17. Hi All, My first post (after the members list) after ordering our Yeti last week and lurking here in the forums a little longer.. First up a big thanks to the folk here, the information I gained really helped me to get the car we wanted, despite the dealers insistence that there was no sat nav other than the Columbus (apparently they had sold 4 customers Pioneers as they were a bit cheaper). Now I'm hoping for a little help, I really do not like the brushed silver dash insert and we would love to swap it out for the piano black variant - like this: http://www.superskod...-LAURIN-KLEMENT The question is does anyone know where to order this for a right hand drive with the associated switch panel? I'm struggling to locate the VAG numbers let alone a company who can order them.
  18. Ordered last week, thought I'd add while waiting: Member name: DrPinball Skoda Yeti 1.4TSI Elegance Brilliant silver metallic with onyx interior Park assist Sunroof ?Amundsen+ Sat Nav with DAB Heated screen Tyre pressure alert Mats Silver front bumper trims Location: East Anglia
