  1. It's not major surgery is it - just a little Botox! I think the current model is inoffensive and this version is the very similar. I'm less worried that the 62 plate Combi I picked up Saturday will look outdated. As I got to the end of this post I went back to check it wasn't something posted on April 1st :-)
  2. I have a Superb L & K, the TV tuner provides me with DAB perfectly well - rear parking cameras - why do you need 'em?
  3. Buy Media Monkey, it'll convert to MP3 directly to the SD card -you have to have the full version though. I did a trial card for my L&k but as it has an iPod connection will probably never use it. Huw
  4. BT Infinity 38 Mbps download, 8 upload reliable and great service
  5. My Sony TV only has an optical feed for external sound - my Arcam solo does not have an optical input. I bought a digital to analogue convertors from Richer Sounds it works really well we even get quite a good effect from the TVs "surround sound" effect. Huw
  6. 119 Combi, 4x4DSG (140) L & K, in amethyst purple. Extras to normal spec, KESSY and iPod prep :-)
  7. Rear door strip - is this the type of thing? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-SUPERB-2-Estate-CHROME-Rear-Trim-Strip-Tailgate-Tuning-Styling-/140927096860?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20cfe8d81c
  8. Hi Colin, Do you mean a bumper protector. I'm going to fit one, can't decide chrome, stainless or black. There's one here http://chromeauto.eu/en/373-skoda-superb-chrome-rear-bumper-protector-trim-cover-stainless-steel.html or here http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/SUPERB-II/Superb-II-Combi-STAINLESS-STEEL--rear-bumper-protective-panel-KI-R. If you are google it and there are loads. Huw
  9. Still waiting for DVLA to transfer plate so I can collect my estate, 4x4 DSG L & K - time goes slow!! Will my iPod plug in? Do I need a VAG lead? If so where does it plug in?
  10. I'm just over the bridge in Cardiff and I've been looking for a while - nationwide, I suspect i may have been offered the brown one through my local dealer. In the end I had a similar choice of L & Ks but in my case the alternatives were amethyst purple, brown or black (& SWMBO was having a big input). Amethyst purple was our (!) choice. I must admit I would have been OK with brown, but I do like the purple - black however is only for hearses in my opinion. There has been a lot on here about the L & K brown interior which people appear to love or hate - I love - it gives an aura of higher quality than black (IMO) although I like Onyx - a colour which has proved serviceable despite grand kids in our Focus convertible. As always you pays your money and takes your choice. huw
  11. The B4574 is one of my favourites - you'll really see wild Wales on this one!
  12. Hello all, They say you can't be a petrol head without owning an Alfa - I qualify having owned a 156 over 80000 trouble free miles - I have also owned forty other vehicles including BL, Volvo (Coupe), Mercedes, VW, Reliant (Scimitar), Porsche (924), Saab (convertible),Range Rover, Fiat, Ford and others. Up with the Alfa were the four Golf GTIs (two 16v) all early MK1 & IIs - fast comfortable and economical. Having retired with a Saab convertible, Focus convertible and Discovery II in the drive we decided rationalization was necessary, down to one convertible and a big practical carry all. Although it was go-anywhere and a better than the average example and top ES spec, the Disco was a bit lumbering and never bettered 28 mpg so was sold in November and a list essentials drawn up to inform our research. RWD was out (have you ever tried a Meredesc coupe in snow - fun but not in a forward direction) exit Mercedes and BMW estates. Space was essential - I'm 6'2'' and wanted knee room behind me, exit A4 and A5 sportback so comparisons between the A6 avant and 5 series touring/E class estate (for objectivity)were made. The E class size was attractive but not price or RWD, the 5 series luggage area too small and again RWD.. Volvo were rejected as they don't seem to have developed very much beyond the coupe I owned 10 years ago. Hyundai too small and we ruled out all the "soft roaders" as we use twisty A roads a lot. The Ford S Max too big (and the sunroof is fixed), Mondeos are very expensive in top trim with a sunroof & autobox (essential to us) - so A6's were watched and researched. The desirable Allroad is £450 a year in VED so a no-no while quattro, although desirable means a 3 litre engine in an A6. So it seemed our budget would get us an eighteen month old auto A6 avant with middling trim. By now Skoda had "appeared on my radar". I have driven quite a few VAG rental cars with DSG when I was working so without telling SWMBO I visited my local Skoda dealer.I drove a 170 DSG estate and I was impressed but could I drive a Skoda - I did and I loved it! Some work would be needed on SWMBO - not too much as it happened. She could see the logic of such a big good value car with the JD Power results backing up the quality. To our joint spec she added that the car had to be a nice colour and, on sitting in an Elegance, not black trim! We looked at an amethyst purple L & K estate - she drove it and loved it - I sat in the back. After the drive I was amazed that it was a 140 (I drove a 170) and 4wd. We tried to get a bigger reduction than was offered but decided overnight that the price was OK for a 6 month old L&K with extras (keyless entry and other bits & pieces) so paid up. I've gone in a circle - I fancied an A6 allroad - but ruled it out and next week I'll have a big 4wd estate with a better gearbox, more toys and lower insurance and VED whoo hoo - can't wait for the DVLA to transfer my private plate. I'll get back with my impressions as an owner soon. Huw
  13. Paid deposit on a 62 plate Superb Estate DSG estate L&K, just waiting for personal plate to go on car! I'm exploring the site for all of the car's advantages/disadvantages. Huw
  14. Thanks for all the helpful quotes - will definitely look into the konis - I intend to keep the car for a fair old time so might be worthwhile investment.
  15. Can I solve the poor ride in my 2010 vrs diesel - aftermarket bushes?

  16. I've got a 2010 VRS tdi estate and although I love what a brilliant all-rounder it is, the ride is a bit harsh. Anybody fitted aftermarket bushes to one and seen a difference?
