  1. I had exactly the same problem with my 2016 model and was quoted £730 to repair. I decided not to go ahead as it seemed to have no effect on the car other than an annoying message. With more use of the car the messages started coming less often and now, according to my daughter who now has the car, the messages have gone away completely. Basically it is a microswitch that gets stuck and the less you use the car the more likely the message will appear. Move the gear stick as much as possible and I think the message will go away or alternatively simply ignore it.
  2. Presume you mean "should not"
  3. Just resurrecting this topic because having recently taken delivery of a new Superb it seems to have a larger fuel tank than my last one. Either that or my fuel gauge is defective or I am getting better fuel consumption than the car thinks I am getting. My dealer says the car has a 70 litre tank. If I believe the range figure the car is giving me it would indicate a fuel tank of about 74 litres. As the car is new I haven’t actually had a chance to run it right down to empty yet. My car has a factory fitted tow bar but I doubt this would make any difference to the size of the fuel tank.
  4. Sorry a bit off topic but on the subject of the infamous gear selector, I was quoted over £700 for putting it right back in March. I decided not to bother as, apart from getting rid of an annoying message, there seemed to be no other reason to do it. The messages then seemed to come less often and have not reappeared since May. I think the microswitch probably seized up a bit during lockdown, when the car was used less often, but now with regular use the problem has gone away.
  5. Actually batteries are covered by the warranty. I had a 5 year warranty from new on my last Superb, and last March, after 4 years and 11 months the battery failed and it was replaced under warranty.
  6. I noticed the following in the manual for my new Superb. "The vehicle is equipped with an accident data recorder, hereinafter called as “EDR”. The purpose of the EDR lies in the data recording during a traffic accident or another extraordinary traffic situation, hereinafter called as “accident”.Data is only recorded in the event of an accident in which the restraint systems are triggered. The EDR records the accident in a short time (approximately 10 s), by showing the following information, for example: ▶ The function of certain systems in the vehicle. ▶ The seat belt status of the driver and front passenger. ▶ The actuation of the brake and accelerator pedals. ▶ The speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident. The recorded data support the analysis of how the vehicle systems behaved shortly before, during and shortly after the accident. This enables them to clarify the circumstances of the accident." I don't think my previous Superb had this and wondered whether other owners were aware of this?
  7. Mine that was ordered on 5 February has finally arrived. It was built in March but since then has been waiting for a part. I took delivery of it yesterday....Hooray!
  8. Picked up my new SE L 2.0TSi today after waiting since February. Has a built in tow bar which is very neat, usb-c in the rear view mirror and wireless charging. It replaces a 2016 diesel SE L of the same colour so many won't notice the difference, but I will!
  9. Yes this is exactly the stage mine got stuck at.
  10. Mine was ordered 5 February, built in March but then disappeared, probably to the airfield. Good news is that it is now in Emden prior to crossing the North Sea.
  11. Strangely mine was only ordered in February but it was built very quickly at the end of March. Since then it has been waiting for a part which Skoda now tell me is related to the battery, I suspect it is a chip. Mine is not a IV version, just an ordinary 2.0TSi 190 SE L.
  12. Just to say that anyone contemplating a factory order could be in for a long wait. my Superb was built in March but since that time it has been sitting at the Skoda factory waiting for parts. Skoda have no idea when it might get completed!
  13. Mine was due for production week beginning 22 March but is stuck awaiting parts. Skoda say they hope the problems will be resolved by the end of May but there is no guarantee. At the beginning of this week 134 vehicles were similarly stuck.
  14. That looks pretty speedy. Mine is also a 190 2 litre petrol but an SE-L version. Hope you are pleased with it.
  15. Does anyone have a Superb on order who can give me an indication of delivery delays due to Covid. I have a Superb Estate on order and was given a build date of week 12 (22 March) but it has still not completed production. Anyone else in the same situation?
  16. Unfortunately Skoda will not pay anything towards it (car is 5 years 1 month old although it had a 5 year warranty) and quote from dealer is £724 to replace gear selector so have decided not to do anything for the moment as the fault always clears after driving 10 minutes. Does anyone know if the fault causes any problems other than an annoying message?
  17. You don't need to go to Skoda for dedicated electrics, any reputable fitter should be able to install them. I had mine installed 3 years ago by PF Jones and the cost for the detachable towbar and dedicated electrics was £518. If you do not have dedicated electrics get a guarantee from the installer that all the lights, indicators, reversing lights will work correctly without faults showing up on the dashboard.
  18. Just had my Superb Mk III (2016) into my dealer who tells me the complete gear selector needs to be changed at a total cost of £758.40. I think I will leave it for the moment and see how it goes as it has only happened twice and cleared within 10 minutes.
  19. When an after market towbar is fitted to a Superb the section beneath the rear bumper is replaced by a new crossbar. It is unlikely this part will have been removed and therefore you just need the missing hook bit as stated above. Presumably the electrics should be there too, perhaps hinged up underneath. If the electric 7 or 13 pin socket is not there it might suggest there wasn't a towbar in the first place.
  20. If it proves to be expensive perhaps you could claim on your car insurance.
  21. Yes I have done the search but it is not clear whether you can just replace the microswitch on a Superb or whether it has to be the whole gear selector assembly.
  22. Has anybody had this error on their Superb? It seems to happen on Fabias and Octavias according to this forum but I haven't seen it mentioned on Superbs. I only asked because I have had the error twice in the last month but then it cleared itself after 10 minutes. It would appear to be a microswitch problem in the gear selector but whether it needs just a new microswitch or a whole gear selector is open to question. Any advice would be appreciated.
  23. Am I right in thinking that if you have any sort of case on the phone then it won't charge because it cannot penetrate the case?
  24. What went wrong as a matter of interest?
  25. The cost of adding the 4th and 5th years warranty covering up to100,000 miles is about £630 for a Superb. It would be interesting to know how many people have spent as much as that on repairs to their Superbs in years 4 and 5. I took out the extra warranty when the car was new but in years 4 and 5 the only warranty claim was for a new battery so it was not worth it in my case.
